Privacy + AI
This is where things get extra spicy.
Vitalik warns that:
AI will not ask for permission before it starts watching and collecting everything. Name it; your chats, your biometrics, your thoughts.
🧷 Chat history will be used to train models
🧷 Apps passively monitor your behavior.
🧷 ChatGPT already blurs the lines. It’s unclear what’s being stored or used to train future models
🧷 And bugs? Bugs can leak other people’s convos into your chat window.
Now add biometric scanners, smart glasses, and brain computer interfaces (BCIs). Future AIs might literally read your mind via BCIs
He stressed that privacy is about to get bodied if we do nothing. And the real dystopia is that we are looking at a future where;
📍 AI knows what you want before you do
📍 Thoughts are processed like voice notes
📍 Your mind is just another data point in someone’s model
Sounds sci-fi? no.
It's not science fiction. It’s a product roadmap.

Privacy is Progress: The Tech That Sets Us Free
People think Privacy means “hiding” But what if privacy is what unlocks the future? That’s the whole point of this third section.
Vitalik flips the script:
“Privacy isn't just a shield – its a launchpad”
Think about it this way:
No Privacy = People don’t share
No sharing = no data
No data = no innovation
The risky reality to this is that we are entering a new age. It is the age of AI, Digital twins, brain-computer interfaces, personalized medicine, and algorithmic public boundaries. All of which are data hungry af.
But if people are scared to give up info because they don’t trust what happens next, none of that future tech scales.
A real life example is healthcare.
In healthcare, better data means faster cures. But if data collection has to be full surveillance, people will refuse to participate.
Vitalik shares a wild real life story:
“An air monitor at someone’s job phoned home so aggressively it could detect when they were having sex”. 💀
That’s the line.
I won’t be telling you details https://t.co/gyq6VZpC9h
Go read it yourself😂

Privacy Is Order: Why Society Crashed Without It
You see, privacy isn’t only about personal freedom. It’s also about how society stays sane.
Vitalik puts it like this;
“A lot of what makes civilization work only works because of privacy”
Democracy? Built on privacy.
Without secret ballots, voting becomes a bribe-and-threat playground.
Think about it. If people can prove who they voted for, you can pay them to vote your way. Or worse, threaten them if they don’t.
The result? Votes aren’t about policy anymore. They are about fear, money, or shame.
Now expand that same logic to:
🪖Judges
🪖Public servants
🪖Journalists
🪖Even moderators on Twitter

The privacy paper details Vitalik’s thoughts on why we need privacy. He broke down his answers and recommendations into three sections;
Privacy is Freedom.
Privacy is Order.
Privacy is Progress.
On Privacy is Freedom;
Once upon a time, people genuinely believed “privacy is dead” and it was a good thing. In fact, some of the loudest tech bros said the world would be more fair if everything was out in the open.
“The transparent society.”
“Privacy is dead, get over it.”
“Facebook even banned pseudonyms. You were supposed to always be seen”
Everything was cute until reality kicked in. Today, the dream is dust, and now?
Government surveils.
Corporations harvest data.
Social media turns private moments into public ammo.
