I’ve outsourced less than $2k. But I’ve passed on a lot and sent to my network.
@Magixlamy_ If mama gets arrested for spreading lies now, some people will start playing victim. 🙄 #Project200k+ #SayNoToIndigenousBill #Yoruba

The same way we stood together against this bill.
Now imagine if we stood together to choose our lawmakers, to choose our senators, and to choose our governors.
People like Faleke won’t be up there representing us.
We need OneVoice.
It’s coming soon.

#Project200k Update
Jan + Feb: I've done $36k worth of freelance work for...
→ Web design agency (NYC)
→ Design studio (PHX)
→ Video production studio (PHX) (2 projects)
→ Ad agency (PHX)
→ Motion design studio (LA+) (2 projects)
I've decided to kickstart #Project200k again.
If you want to see what has made 2023/24 shitty years and my predictions for the future, check this out... https://t.co/ZWJKshbSC4
Running in NYC gave me an insight about business:
People get out of the way of (ie. help) people who are on a mission.
When I started #Project200k, there were so many people who reached out to give advice and connect me with folks.
Do you have a mission?
Do others know it?
2021 - Doubled my income with #Project200k
2022 - Maintained $200k freelance income (and took 2 months off)
2023 - My new goal is to work with 100 freelancers throughout the year to help them make an extra $25k with as close to 100% success rate as possible
What's a clever way to get one last $1k job for the year?
I'm 99.5% of my way to successfully completing #Project200k a second year in a row.
@thesaraloretta I’ve set big goals many times, but only truly been successful twice.
Once with #Project200k and once doing an avg of 100 push-ups a day for a year.
Here’s what made the difference…
#Project200k 2.0 Update
Currently working on landing the last few gigs that will get me over the $200k line again this year.
Once I wrap the projects I'm on, I'll be at: $194,750
Hours worked so far: 1316
Intentional time taken off: 6 weeks
An example from my playbook:
• Talk openly about a particular goal your shooting for and give regular updates (#Project200k)
Goals could be
• Financial
• Landing specific clients (or kinds of clients)
• Number of new clients
• Projects w/ more creative control
At the beginning of #Project200k, networking was my full time job.
Once the work started coming in, After Effects was my full time job.
Networking become a side gig/maintenance mode.
If you don't have work (or need new clients), you might need to crank up the networking.
#Project200k update for 2022...
SO FAR
• 23 projects
• $180k after my current project wraps in 2 weeks
• 3 week vacation in Bali
• 2 weeks off in June
LAST YEAR AT THIS TIME
• 34 projects
• $179k
• No vacation
• No intentional time off
2. Personal project [ADVANCED]
One of the best networking tools is doing something interesting in public.
Ex. #Project200k
In 2021, I set out to make $200k. I put this in my bio. This was easy to understand and pretty interesting to most any motion design designer.
I love @FullHarbor 's newsletter. Short, direct to the point, makes you think, not trying to sell you anything. I really like it #project200K
You can read all my blog posts and threads about #Project200k.
You can watch all of @motionhatch’s YouTube videos.
You can read @jkorenman’s Freelance Manifesto.
You can take @Shea_Lord’s Pricing Course.
But until you start charging clients for work, it’s all theory.
I talked to a super smart 20 year old this week.
All the potential in the world, but had a major major flaw in his thinking.
This flaw is becoming the most common mistake I am seeing young people make early in their career.
Let's break it down:
At the beginning of #Project200k, networking was my full time job.
Once the work started coming in, After Effects was my full time job.
Networking become a side gig/maintenance mode.
If you don't have work (or need new clients), you might need to crank up the networking.
#Project200k was not only a financial success, but I also got to work on projects for household name, international brands.
*Most of these came from 2021.
*Finally getting around to updating my personal site 😅
