A wide array of #ProjectSeabird infrastructure at Naval Base Karwar was inaugurated by the Raksha Mantri Shri Shri @rajnathsingh on #05Apr 25.
These facilities will boost the sustenance of assets operating off the West Coast, and augment the #IndianNavy’s efforts in maintaining a #FutureReady Force.
The infrastructure has been developed in pursuit of the Government’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat with more than 90% of the material and equipment being sourced from within the country.
The progressive operationalisation of the Karwar base will also generate industrial growth and enable substantial support to the local economy in the Uttar Kannada Region.
Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh inaugurated a wide array of Project Seabird infrastructure at Naval Base Karwar on #05Apr 25.
Infrastructure worth Rs 2000 Cr including 09 marine piers, state-of-the-art support utilities and trunk facilities as well as 480 dwelling units for sailors and defence civilians were inaugurated.
The inauguration of marine infrastructure will further strengthen national security and self-reliance. These facilities will provide impetus to develop Karwar as a future ready naval base and is a bold step in driving India's maritime growth and modernising our defence forces.

My course, as cadets, was present when the foundation stone was laid in 1986. In our service some of us oversaw the development of the project, served there fine-tuning the base and operations. The base has evolved and adds value to India's maritimity.
