Interesting fact: #JackieDupontWalker also spoke out against the rent control initiative on the CA ballot #Prop21. She along #CommunityBuild's Robert Sausedo were the only nonprofit affordable housing developers in the whole state to be against Prop 21.

@jackie_botts Seriously, what ballot measure were voters NOT confused about?! A No campaign, by design, points to flaws and weaknesses of an initiative. #Prop21 had many. It lost by 20 points. Again. I doubt highly 20% of the electorate was confused. They recognized the adverse impacts.

(1) Landlord groups significantly outspent the measures’ advocates.
(2) Democratic politicians and left-leaning interest groups have been split on the issue

@latimes @dillonliam The mistake here is that CA isnt as "liberal" as its perceived to be. Look at Props 14, 15, 25 and a few others & the defeat of the school bond earlier this year. Voters reject bad policy, overregulation & measures with significant pricetags like #Prop21.
Something I didn't say last night but should say now: I'm so very sorry to the renters of California for failing to get rent control passed again. We blew it - again. And I own it. I know a lot of you thought we were taking something away from you. We weren't. But so it goes
