I have just: 1) signed a contract for a new book of #poetry & translations; & 2) sent my private editor the last chunk of the #Propertius translation. I'll pace myself for a bit since: 1) we have grandchildren for #Easter; 2) we drive back to MA on Monday; & 3) #Petrarch launch is Tuesday.

I have gone back to editing my #Propertius draft, but mid-afternoon I lost a day's work due to the vagaries of @Windows 11. Two hours & $75 later I got it mostly back, but I think this will be my last long translation. I just can't keep dealing with this unstable platform.

I wrote two #poems last summer, but it has been dry since then what with the #Petrarch proofing, finishing the #Propertius draft, teaching for @Image_Journal, and slowly moving to VA. I did write an eight-line poem yesterday. It may need two more lines, but it felt good.

In late June I started moving the last 2,000 lines of my #Propertius translation from notebooks to the computer. Progress slowed due to #Petrarch proofing, the first truckload to the new Virginia house & efforts to protect #SocialSecurity. I am 5 poems/306 lines from done.

It's insanely busy for an allegedly retired guy, but I finished my Petrarch proofing, sent off my #WilliamJaySmith op ed, agreed to do a #JaneGreer piece, & scheduled a chat for tomorrow about being a last-minute fill-in for a few months for a major journal. Back to #Propertius!

So, some good news on this dark, wet, and cranky day: I finished moving Book III of #Propertius from my notebooks into my computer. I am putting off Book IV because I now have three weeks to review final #Petrarch proofs from @wwnorton. Perhaps there will be review copy PDFs in October.

So I am down to 66 lines of #Propertius to go, but I don't expect progress today. I'm struggling with 4.11.39-40, I have to testify on Beacon Hill about deleting SSNs on MA death certificates, and I have to clean up the house to make my five days unsupervised appear less feral.
