Israeli occupation forces have placed Palestinian journalist and community activist Alaa Hassan al-Rimawi under four months of administrative detention after raiding his home in Ramallah and detaining him on September 17. Rimawi was detained shortly after launching his “Tanaazol Lillah” (Forgive for God’s Sake) campaign, which calls on creditors to waive debts owed by Palestinians struggling financially. The initiative rapidly grew into a major solidarity campaign, with debt waivers reportedly surpassing 65 million shekels in days. His latest detention comes less than a year after Israel released him in October 2025 following nearly two years in administrative detention without charge or trial. He had also previously been detained in 2021.
