How #XPU can run in the browser:
#Purplecoin is stateless. This means we do not have to store all of the transaction history to run a full-node. We only need our own data.
The code is currently ~16mb in size and it can be compiled to Web Assembly which runs in a browser.
As #XPU can be thought of as an extension of the internet to handle assets, it can also be thought of as an extension of the browser to handle assets.
Imagine being able to send and receive any asset or currency by visiting a webpage and connecting your hardware wallet, either through self-custody or shared custody if it is desired.
This is what #XPU is: the browser of assets. It is the client of bridge node servers which store assets.
Only the owner can spend the assets but he can choose to store them on any bridge node. The web node downloads the assets from the configured bridges and then they are ready to be spent.
How #XPU can bring in capital to the whole blockchain ecosystem: As the #Purplecoin blockchain can be used with any asset without owning XPU, and due to it being stateless, it can function as a bridge between different chains and fiat.
With two-way pegs between XPU and other blockchains, we can exchange any coin via the Order Book DEX which works a bit like OTC trading where everyone posts quotes in an off-chain order book.
Example (Replace BTC and ETH with any other coins):
This means exchanging #Bitcoin with #ETH becomes possible or vice versa. BTC -> WBTC -> XPU -> WETH -> ETH
Now, let’s suppose we have a fiat equivalent called XUSD which is fully regulated by the SEC and ideally run by the gov.
This would remove the need to trust centralised exchanges as fiat would live on-chain. You would exchange USD for XUSD at your bank.
This means you can buy #Bitcoin or other coins which are pegged to the XPU chain like this: USD -> XUSD -> XPU -> WBTC -> BTC
All of this is done while you hold your own keys. You can even use XUSD to buy groceries as you can pay transaction fees with it.
I believe that stablecoins should be maintained and regulated by the government authorities themselves. In such a scenario, users are safe and if it fails, it is the fault of the government, and not a third party.
This makes the whole ecosystem safer and more robust. It also allow regulators to better reason about blockchain tech in general, which in turn, drives adoption.
How spending assets works in a stateless blockchain such as #XPU: In #Bitcoin, we have to keep our private keys secure and our assets are found on-chain. In #Purplecoin, the user is responsible for keeping the private keys secure and the assets.
How does this work in practice? Assets cannot be spent without private keys but they can be stored in multiple places for safety.
Example:
Alice stores 10 XPU on her local computer and the cloud. If her local copy gets lost, she can download them back from the cloud. If the cloud shuts down or loses the assets, she has her local copy.
State is stored off-chain and decentralisation at the state level is done via “not keeping your eggs into one basket”.
In this way we can run ultra light nodes which can even run on a hardware wallet. Once the wallet has internet connectivity it can download the assets from somewhere and spend them using the keys stored on the device.
