🎁 Latest toy for our #QuCom lab arrived 🤗
More to come (hopefully) soon… 😎
Btw: „Cutting-edge equipment needs to be heavy“… right or wrong!? 😅

Yes, he did it! 🤗
Today Dr. Timm Gao successfully defended his excellent PhD thesis as first PhD from my Berlin #QuCom group 🥳
I’m proud of his achievements and his performance today!
He will continue to shape the 2nd quantum revolution - since last year in a company.

👩🔬👨🔬 Now, let's do the actuall experiment in our #QuCom lab using a HBT experimental setup (concept explained in earlier posts)!
📹This is a real-time video of what you get from the micron-sized dartboard 🎯 optically excited using a 80 MHz pulsed laser...

Today I give you first insights into our #QuCom lab!
The time-laps video shows the installation of our cryo-optical double-table with two integrated attoDRY800 closed-cycle fridges.
We use them to operate our quantum light sources at T~3K (-270°C)🥶

I have the pleasure to work with an amazing team in my #QuCom group!
The picture shows a snap-shot of our team (+ some family/friends 😉) during the 2023 edition of our yearly canoe trip in Spreewald... do you spot some familiar faces?🧐🙂

Just gave my Invited Talk at the „Focus Session: Young Semiconductor Forum“ organized by #AGyouLeaP:

I was finally able to upload our work, although delayed due to the earthquake, involving a total of 8 universities from Austria and Germany with its theory and experiment, to Arxiv.

Without my colleagues, I would neither have time nor energy to analyze the data, prepare figures, or write the article. When I found a computer at the end of February and logged into Overleaf, I saw tens of pages written, tens of figures drawn. At that point, I realized once again how good the people I work with are.
There are many people I need to thank.
My office colleague Florian Kappe who analyzed and calculated the data, Vikas Remesh and Daniel Vajner from Berlin, Doris Reiter from Dortmund, Paul Hagen from Bayreuth who contributed greatly to the article writing, and of course Juan Loredo (@JCLoredoR) who brought us this idea last year.
Tobias Heindel (@HeindelTobias) who allowed me to use his lab and develop different techniques with Daniel. Without their efforts, I wouldn't be able to submit this article today.
I also need to thank the people who kept me connected to life with their support during the most difficult period of my life and shared the difficulties my family faced.
Providing all kinds of financial and moral support since the first day,
my University (@uniinnsbruck), the best professor in the world, my professor Gregor Weihs, our management assistants Anna Grigoryeva and Heide Streicher who even took care of my grocery shopping, doctor's appointments when I returned to Innsbruck and our sub-group leader Vikas Remesh.
My wife Nadine (@BourricheNadine), who got on the first plane from Munich as soon as she heard about the earthquake and came to Turkey, was with me every minute during the 3 months that I could not walk, taking care of me as if I was a child.
and, of course, the Max Planck Institute, which allowed her to work remotely.
I owe my life to my valuable friend, Emergency Specialist Güven Şimşek (@guvensimsek101). as soon as he heard about the earthquake, He traveled thousands of kilometers from Çanakkale to Adıyaman and carried me to his hospital in Çanakkale, where he works. He arrived to me before the AFAD and Rescue teams on Tuesday night and took care of my ugly feet every day for 2 months with his wife Gizem Şimşek, who is also a doctor.
To my former Professor Serkan Ateş (@NQOLab), whom I am sure to be there whenever I fall into difficulties, whom I call and discuss ideas for hours.
To Mete Atatüre (@MeteAtature), who is one of my thesis advisors and has been with me since day one.
To IYTE Rector Yusuf Baran (@ProfYusufBaran), who has been worried about me since the first hours of the earthquake and has done everything he can.
To Mustafa Gündoğan (@mustgundogan), who did everything he could to provide all kinds of support for my family in Ankara from Berlin.
To the entire European quantum optics community, especially Armando Rastelli (@Ar_Rastelli), Tobias Heindel, Tobias Huber, and other scientists who called and emailed from dozens of different universities across Europe.
To the entire Quantum Turkey Team,
To Onur Pusuluk, to Ceyhun Bulutay, to the KOBIT science board
To Zeki Seskir, to Koray Kaymazlar, and to hundreds of friends, followers, old and new students, whom I can't write here now,
To those who called and asked about me even if we had never met before, thank you.
I would have been lost without you, I would have been left in the dark without you.
Last year, I dedicated my first article to my mother, and I dedicate this one to my passed away father and my sister, as well as to all the people we have lost in the earthquake.

Amplitude and wavelength are independent parameters. For sound, the higher the amplitude, the higher the energy. For light, the higher the wavelength, the lower the energy. #QuantumComputing #Qucom
“The interplay between #gravity and #QuantumMechanics is one of the most fascinating problems in modern physics."
Researchers from @QUBMathsPhys have joined the international #QuCoM project to investigate the fundamental nature of gravity.

Had an amazing meeting with all 20 BMBF #QuantumFutur Junior Research Groups @braincityb this week!
My #QuCom group @TUBerlin had the honor to host more than 50 participants including group leaders and team members from both funding rounds I and II @QuantenTech @BMBF_Bund

@Psibilim @factorial_0 It was a great pleasure having you with us in #QuCom-group @TUBerlin, Yusuf @Psibilim 👍
Indeed exciting progress in the lab!
Enjoyed the barbecue with team members, Doris Reiter + friends at our remote place - what a nice coincidence… 🙂
Looking forward to your next visit!
