# Supplementary Report: The Role of Hawking Radiation in a Cyclic Universe
#### Abstract
This report explores the significance of Hawking radiationโa quantum mechanical phenomenon that allows black holes to lose mass and energy in the form of radiationโfor the dynamics of a cyclic universe. By applying fundamental physical principles and calculations, we illustrate how the energy released over astronomical timeframes could make a significant contribution to the energy balance of the universe.
#### Introduction
Named after theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, Hawking radiation offers an intriguing link between quantum mechanics and gravitational theory. This work examines the role of Hawking radiation within the concept of a cyclic universe, characterized by recurring phases of expansion, stagnation, and contraction.
#### Methodology
The power \(P\) of Hawking radiation from a black hole was calculated using the formula:
\[ P = \frac{\hbar c^6}{15360 \pi G^2 M^2} \]
where \(\hbar\) is the reduced Planck constant, \(c\) is the speed of light, \(G\) is the gravitational constant, and \(M\) is the mass of the black hole. Subsequently, the total amount of energy \(E\) released by Hawking radiation over the lifespan of a black hole and the black hole's lifespan \(t\) due to Hawking radiation were determined.
#### Results
For a black hole of 10 solar masses, the following values were calculated:
- Power of Hawking radiation: \(9.01 \times 10^{-31}\) Watts
- Total energy released by Hawking radiation: \(1.79 \times 10^{48}\) Joules
- Estimated lifespan of a black hole due to Hawking radiation: \(6.29 \times 10^{70}\) years
These results highlight the low power at which black holes lose energy and the enormous amount of energy released over astronomical timeframes. The estimated lifespan underscores the long periods over which processes like Hawking radiation can influence the universe.
#### Discussion
The calculations suggest that Hawking radiation could potentially make a significant contribution to the energy balance of a cyclic universe. Despite the slow rate of mass loss from black holes via Hawking radiation, the accumulated energy could be significant, especially when considered in the context of countless black holes in the universe. This energy could theoretically provide the necessary energy to initiate a new expansion phase after a contraction.
