Why does the ALA continue down this path??? I think the American people are over the #QueeringtheLibrary mission of ALA's new president.
HERE IT IS. AMERICAN LIBRARY ASSOCIATION NOW HAS A “NONBINARY” PRESIDENT.
Targeting of children 🎯 👧 is expected to ramp up. (And grammar will be mangled.)
DEFUND ALA NOW.
Silver lining: Emily Drabinski is no longer Immediate Past President. ALAAC25

@libsoftiktok Speaking of the quiet part out loud, see what #librarians are doing using the hashtag #QueeringTheLibrary, including the woman running for @ALALibrary president with the Marxist fist.
Hovedbiblioteket i Berlin har i flere år arbejdet under hashtagget #queeringthelibrary. Nu deles erfaringerne med danske biblioteker. https://t.co/37W4Ds7sy1
Thank you, @PGCMLS, for your work and advocacy. Very grateful for your session at #PLA2022. #QueeringTheLibrary 🌈
Representation matters. Emphasize the impacts of positive representation of all we serve to stakeholders! Our communities have a right to see representation of self and others. #LibrariesAreForAll #QueeringTheLibrary #PLA2022
Good praxis: Set the expectations high. Give staff the tools to succeed professionally. Prepare for backlash (data, self-care,
support groups). Ensure this work crosses departments and teams in your institution/system. Communicate the impact.

Spreading the Mission: Joining or developing #LGBTQIA2 Interest Groups is the next step in forwarding equity, inclusion, and support in public libraries. @MDLibraryAssoc has an excellent example of what this could look like. #QueeringTheLibrary #PLA2022 🌈
Thank you @PGCMLS for offering more info about #Pride365 and also “Pride360” which opens the doors to intersectionality, racial inclusion, and opportunities/space to learn more. Feeling inspired/challenged to be the resources our communities need!

Quote of the Conference Winner may be announced early. Talking about post-June #LGBTQIA2 programs - “After June we’re still queer we’re just tired.” Virtual programs and events outside of June are not only often more economic but also@more inclusive.

Staff Development is crucial! Real-time, same time space to talk and ask and share matters. #QueeringTheLibrary #PLA2022
Pivoting to digital programming was smoother as the plan was already in place for @PGCMLS - staff leaned into content carousels, online calls for engagement, and virtual community. Programs: Rainbow Storytimes, Zoom Trivia and Digital Zine Class. #QueeringTheLibrary #PLA2022
Family learning was a gap that was focused upon. Finding partners already serving the #LGBTQIA2 Community to build a coalition of support services was a primary goal as well. #QueeringTheLibrary #PLA2022
The initial plan: 1.) Create official initiative. 2.) Create programming and services related to this formal #LGBTQIA2 initiative. 3.) Create and implement staff wide training. #QueeringTheLibrary #PLA2022
Starting with institutional intention was a good, initial step. “Meeting leadership where they are at.” Staff already engaged are key but reaching the learning needs@for all staff is important to address. #QueeringTheLibrary #PLA2022
Feeling some good feels already at #QueeringTheLibrary. I’ve used/observed pronouns but never orientation and identity graphically shared in bio lines. This example inspires me to do so. Loving this!💜🖤🤍 #PLA2022 #inclusion
