We encourage and support research into innovative speech and language therapy service delivery methods, and models, especially those designed to alleviate pressures on services that have arisen as a result of #COVID19.

Research to be funded and undertaken to better understand the effectiveness of speech and language therapy service delivery methods which may impact on service resources, including innovations such as in telehealth.

Therapists identified the major factors contributing to an increase in demand were:
- addressing the backlog
- the deterioration or exacerbation of individuals' needs during lockdown
- the redeployment of speech and language therapists

The #RCSLTCovidReport also highlights that the most common consequences of an increase in demand were:
- longer waiting times
- less face-to-face therapy (or more remote therapy)
- more 'advice only' provision
- a negative impact on therapists wellbeing

Experiences of over 676 UK #SLPeeps are represented in the #RCSLTCovidReport.
A staggering 77% reported that the demand on their service had increased since before the pandemic.
Over a quarter of these said the demand had at least doubled.
