Amidst millionaire footballers being sold for ridiculous money, can we spare a thought for Alan Knight - former Portsmouth goalkeeper who made 801 Pompey appearances between 1978 and 1999. Astonishing - & a lovely guy to interview in my early days as a football writer. #RIPAlan

Portsmouth Football Club are devastated to announce the passing of Alan Knight at the age of 65, surrounded by his close family.
The Pompey legend โ who served the club as a goalkeeper, coach and ambassador โ passed away this morning following a battle with prostate cancer.
He will be sadly missed by the Fratton faithful, teammates and all of us at the club who knew and loved him.
Rest in peace, Knightsie. ๐

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Hartlepool United Manager, Alan Murray.
Alan managed the Club between 1991 and 1993, memorably guiding Pools to promotion during his time at Victoria Park.
Everyone at Hartlepool United sends their heartfelt condolences to Alanโs family, friends, and all those who knew him.
My daughter (19) just said to me she had a craving for cake (so a drive to Kells was in order). I was about to say no when @AMLaCassePhoto words rang in my ears...eat the cake. So we are. โค #RipAlan
Myself and Alan had a good chat last week and I told him I'm into amateur dramatics and told him about a mock wedding I'm taking part in tomorrow night. I'm going to perform it for him cos I knew he'd get a good laugh out of it. I'm the one in the white at the front #RipAlan
@ItaAnderson46T Read this post after finishing my night shift and found myself gently crying, it certainly struck a chord, remembering all the people who weโve lost. ๐
Iโm struggling to write this, so just thank you Ita.
