I am deeply saddened by the loss of my good friend Ian Hudspeth after his courageous battle with cancer. Ian was a rare constant in both politics and in my life - loyal, generous with his time, and always there when it mattered. He was a huge personal support to me, offering wise advice, listening patiently after difficult days, and providing encouragement time and time again. In a world where loyalty can be hard to find, Ian never wavered. I will miss our campaign sessions together, our trips to Nando’s, and the many political conversations that meant so much to me. I will also miss our many, often stressful, hours watching Oxford United together, sharing the highs and lows of a team he loved deeply and supported passionately, both on and off the pitch. Ian cared deeply about his local community, serving with distinction as a District and County Councillor and as Leader of the County Council for nine years. He showed strong, principled leadership during a challenging time for local government and leaves a lasting legacy of public service. I will miss him deeply. My thoughts are with his wife Carolyn and his daughter Chloe at this very sad time.
