#DailyDevotional Saturday, 13th June, 2026 🕊🔥 Justification of Life ✝️ #Romans 5:18 📖 By the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. 👑 Adam’s sin in the Garden of Eden had a devastating effect upon the human race. His rebellion certainly marked out the path of sin that has been followed by all those descending from him (Romans 3:23). Also, from his fallen state, Adam produced children who were by nature corrupt as he was (Ephesians 2:3). All men are born depraved, and their sins naturally proceed from their corruption. Finally, Paul asserted that the offence of Adam brought all men into condemnation (Romans 5:16-19). The Shorter Catechism summarizes this by saying, “The covenant being made with Adam, not only for himself, but for his posterity; all mankind, descending from him by ordinary generation, sinned in him, and fell with him, in his first transgression” (Answer 16). Adam stood in a unique relationship to his race, and his folly left them depraved, condemned, and under the reign of sin and death (Romans 5:19). Christ also has a unique relationship with the people for whom He acts as representative head. The righteousness of Christ is able to justify all who are in union with Him. In His obedience on the cross, Jesus Christ bore away the wrath that was due His people for their sins (Isaiah 53:5-6; 1 Peter 2:24). In His obedience, Christ also earned a righteousness that is imputed to His people. God declares Christ’s people to be righteous because they are joined to Him in a covenant union. The failure of Adam meant that for centuries “sin hath reigned unto death” (Romans 5:21a). But the success of Christ’s obedience brings all of His people into a reign of grace unto eternal life (Romans 5:21b). Nothing can break this mystical union with Christ or undo this reign of grace. 🙏
