@heyitstva @Apple My dad was a #CPA & always an early adopter. #VCR, #Amana #Radarange (such a beauty, that), and the @Apple2e. He would enter calculations, and print the results out on a 9-pin dot-matrix printer. He did, eventually, get a monitor.

#OTD in 1945, @RaytheonTech filed a patent for a microwave cooking process. #Radarange—the first microwave oven—hit the market the following year. Learn how #PhysicsHistory heated up thanks to a melting candy bar: : https://t.co/7xzxoeYeZj.

@startflossing I inherited this classic 1982 #Amana #Radarange from my grandma, and have never looked back. 700W, analog timer, they don't make them like this anymore. They are going for big $$$ on eBay, now that the hipsters are in a vintage microwave frenzy, but there really is a difference

Happy #NationalMicrowaveOvenDay! Quite by accident #PercySpencer discovered a way to heat food with #microwaves. While working with active #radar in 1945 he noticed a candy bar in his pocket was melting. The 1st commercially available #microwave was called the #Radarange (1947)
