Through #RageAgainstTheScreen we've heard repeatedly from parents fighting a losing battle against products created to hold children's attention. We welcome the govt's willingness to take further action to tackle addictive social media design and the harm it causes young people.
Late-night scrolling. Endless autoplay. Algorithms designed to keep you hooked.
We're changing that for 16 and 17-year-olds.
New protections will mean overnight social media curfews and addictive features will be switched off by default, helping young people get better sleep, focus on what matters and enjoy healthier online habits.
Some people thought comparing social media to cigarettes was a step too far.
Parents on Mumsnet didn't. And now senior doctors and politicians are making similar comparisons.
The consultation is over - it's time for action.
