#Onthisday 21 years ago we took a Serco Test Train with Test Car 6 (ADB975290) & ZXA Van (ADC201055) from Derby to Ruddington GCR(N) as part of a Loram Rail Grinder test programme. Seen with D4115 at Rushcliffe & Ruddington on a very wet 4 Jan 2004.

A wagon acceptance test preparing to depart the RTC Derby for Carnforth on 14 Dec 2006 with 66551. The wagon was Freightliner HXA coal hopper 370506 coupled to Test Car 2. 08417 would haul the formation into Derby station so it could depart towards Crewe. #railvehicletesting
37 years ago - 20097, Test Car 2 & 76t crane ADRC96200 at the RTC Derby Nov '87.
Tests were required because the crane had been fitted with air brakes. The test train was preparing to leave the RTC for transit across to the brake test site north of Crewe.

#OnThisDay 37years ago, 1st Nov'87 the world diesel speed record was attained with HST power cars 43102 and 43159. Here's a couple of (sorry very grainy) shots of the test train as we were preparing to start the historic day at Darlington.

Hard to believe this was 37 years ago! Oct 1987, 43102 on the traverser at the back of the RTC Derby during preparations for testing of the new SIG bogies. A week later during the test runs between Darlington & York the world diesel speed record was achieved. #railvehicletesting
Back in 2000 a trial was carried out with TF-25 bogies fitted under two O&K aggregate wagons, Box OK3312 and Hopper OK19314 had their bogies strain-gauged up at the RTC and a couple of test runs went to Carnforth and back, 4-5 April 2000. #railvehicletesting

39 years ago (20 May'85) Test Car 1 at Syston during a wagon riding/stability acceptance test.
ADW150375 was converted from 1951 built Hawksworth Auto Trailer W233.
The coach is now restored as Auto-Trailer W233 at the SDR @southdevonrly

A flashback 31 years ago (May'93), our #quornwagonandwagon Test Car 2 was repainted into lined BR Maroon by the DM&EE department at the RTC, Derby. This livery lasted for just over 4 years until after privatisation when Serco repainted it into their colours.

RDB975422 at the RTC Derby, 12 July'87, converted at Swindon in 1978 from Mk1 BSK W34875 for BR Research as Laboratory 6 Prometheus, rated for 125mile/h.
Transferred to the DM&EE in the late 80s and re-designated as Test Car 5; it was scrapped in 2003.
