Pete LaCock once homered off of Bob Gibson, prompting Gibson to retire. Years later, in an old-timers game, Gibson intentionally pegged him the first time he faced him. Also…LaCock’s father (Peter Marshall) hosted Hollywood Squares!

Always fun to post a pic of Fergie! Especially as a #RandomCardFromMyCollection! Fantastic pitcher who is probably not in the conversation about “greats” as often as he should be!

I know @MissTellier approves of today’s selection for a #RandomCardFromMyCollection! The Hawk always looked fierce, but never more so than in those beautiful Expos powder blues! A gorgeous card, in my opinion.

Sticking with 1980 Topps and the San Diego Padres for a 2nd straight #RandomCardFromMyCollection: Hall of Famer Dave Winfield was not only a 1st round draft pick of the Padres. He was also drafted by the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks, the ABA’s Utah Stars, and the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings!

We’re going to continue with a few more 1980 Topps cards at #RandomCardFromMyCollection. A few days ago was Garry Templeton; today we’re doing Opening Day backflips over The Wizard, Ozzie Smith! Both played SS for SD & STL, both wore #1, and they even were traded for each other!

My mom took me to games as a kid, and we sat in the bleachers. Before one game, Silvio Martinez was in the outfield and my mom yelled, “Hey Silvio! Throw the kids a ball!” He did. My mom caught it, gave it to me, and I had a souvenir! So he’s today’s

Some folks link Brock & Yaz together because of the 1967 World Series, four years before I was born. For me, they’re forever joined because they both reached the 3,000 Hit Club in 1979, a fact celebrated on 1980 Topps card #1, which is today’s #RandomCardFromMyCollection.

I’ve had this card since 1980. Judging by its condition, it was well-loved by 8-year old me. Even then, I thought 100 hits from each side of the plate was pretty cool! #JumpSteady celebrates his 69th birthday, so Garry Templeton is today’s #RandomCardFromMyCollection.

Looking forward to cheering on my son’s old teammate with @GB__Baseball, Dylan Cumming as he continues to work his way through the Giants’ farm system (last year was AA). Great guy with a great story, can’t wait to see where the next chapters take him!#RandomCardFromMyCollection

@RickyH49 Two of my all-time favorite Cardinals! And I already had them each lined up to be featured in posts as a #RandomCardFromMyCollection.

The condition is far less than perfect, but what a cool card this is! Not only a sweet action shot of Tony Gwynn, but a bonus Hall of Famer thrown in with Ozzie Smith! That’s certainly enough to earn this card a spot as today’s #RandomCardFromMyCollection!

#RandomCardFromMyCollection honors the one and only Curt Flood. A great player whose impact off the field was even greater than his sizable impact on the field!

#RandomCardFromMyCollection brings you Bill “the Spaceman” Lee!

Since it’s the time of year for March Madness, let’s feature a really good college basketball player. Tony Gwynn set a school record with 590 assists on the hardwood for the San Diego State Aztecs!

#RandomCardFromMyCollection today is the great Will Clark, who finished off a fantastic career with a brief stop in St. Louis where he forever endeared himself to Cardinals fans, posting a 1.081 ops over 197 plate appearances down the stretch in 2000. Plus it’s his 61st birthday!

Today we have a double dose of #RandomCardFromMyCollection as we celebrate birthdays of great 80s outfielders. Happy 63rd to the one and only Darryl Strawberry! Always admired his ability, even though (as a teenage Cardinals fan) I rooted against him passionately back in the day!

#RandomCardFromMyCollection honors Dale Murphy, who today celebrates his 69th birthday. What a stud! From 1982-85, he won both the Silver Slugger and the Gold Glove every year, playing 162 games each season, averaging 36 home runs, and
winning back-to-back MVP awards in 82 & 83.

I know Reggie only hit .262 for his career, but he might be the all-time leader in terms of consistently having awesome cards! His massive swing just made for classic photos, and that’s why the 1984 Topps Reggie Jackson is today’s #RandomCardFromMyCollection.

#RandomCardFromMyCollection is going with a 1976 Topps Dodgers pitcher for the second straight day. This time it’s Hall of Famer Don Sutton, who won 324 games with a 3.26 career ERA. And he’s also among the all-time leaders in curls.
