#RandomScribbles #writerblock #InkedbyAkriti #BeingAkriti_ ‘Hello’, my pen whispered, ‘Good to have you back.’ I raised my eyebrow, surprised at the very formal welcome from someone who had been my friend all my life! The pen held a chuckle, ‘Well, you see, I believe there are other things that have perhaps kept you occupied. Or perhaps you don’t need me anymore! It’s been quite some time since you & I had our conversations with paper with a hot cup of tea on the side!’ Oh! My dear ‘pen’ felt ignored & before ‘insecurity’ started damaging our beautiful bond; I had to make amends. I then carefully held the pen between my middle & index fingers and firmed the grip with my thumb. ‘Well, well, it seems like someone is feeling insecure for no reason.’ The pen, knowing it was impossible to wiggle out, did the next best thing to show the anger - the ink refused to come out & whatever I wrote instead turned into an embossing on the paper. I jerked the pen a couple of times while steading the grip, for the sly creature tried to move out between the jerks, but hey, I am wiser! The pen was adamant; the dried ink refused to come out & I was distraught, for I couldn’t have my beloved ‘pen’ added to the list of loved ones I had disappointed! ‘I know you are angry’, I started, ‘I should have held you all these times that I didn’t. I am sorry! But whenever I thought of writing something new, it didn’t seem ‘good’ enough; the whole idea seemed pointless, and the fear of offending people with thoughts that didn’t align with theirs consumed me!‘ ‘Good enough, you say & who decides what is good enough or not! How do you know the idea is pointless? For all you know, it might make a difference in someone’s life! And offending people! I say Offend them, offend them with your takes, offend them with an alternate point of view, offend them with kindness, offend them with a love potion that cuts through their venom, offend them with truth that you believe in! Freaking Offend them!’ I pulled the nib up from the paper while contemplating & a black ink dot greeted me! The dried ink had melted!

#Writingjourney #writerlife #author #reflections #inkedbyAkriti ‘21st Jul 2015’ Scribbled down the prologue (rough) for my first story, a fanfic sitting on my PG terrace at midnight, waiting to call my cousin in US to wish him Happy Birthday! …And then conveniently forgot about it taking it as an random scribble I was completely ‘unimpressed’ with - not knowing that a year later sitting on the same terrace I would refine it and write a 2 A4 page prologue for my first fanfic on Wattpad starting from the same draft I had left unfinished a year ago!! …And now about 8 years later the draft has undergone another refinement as a introduction for my next book - ‘The symphony of imperfections’ releasing by end of this year!! The journey of this draft, indeed, has come a whole circle!!
