The teenager reportedly said he was just trying to be “fun and quirky” and didn’t realize how upsetting it would be, adding: “I wasn’t even alive when it happened, so I don’t know the full impact.” I'm sorry, but that excuse doesn't work for me. My TWO youngest daughters weren't born when 9/11 happened either. Both know exactly what happened that day. My youngest actually cries when she talks about it. We were discussing 9/11 just last night. They teach September 11th in schools. There are documentaries, memorials, museums, survivor stories and 25 years of history explaining exactly why that day still hurts so many Americans. You don't have to have been alive on September 11, 2001, to understand that nearly 3,000 innocent people were murdered. And incredibly, the school's prom reportedly falls on September 11, with a prayer planned beforehand honoring the victims. Being born after 9/11 isn't an excuse for ignorance about 9/11.
