It is hard enough to write about just one person’s life or one organization’s history, and do justice to it. Doing both in a single book can be a very complex undertaking. Yet, somehow, Stephen Witt, the author of “The Thinking Machine: Jensen Huang, Nvidia and the World's Most Coveted Microchip” and winner of the 2025 @FT and Schroders Business Book of the Year award, manages to masterfully do just that, as he chronicles both the rise of Nvidia and the trajectory of its founder-CEO Jensen Huang.
The book recounts how a manufacturer of gaming chips, much younger and smaller than behemoths like Intel or AMD, became the leading maker of chips that are driving the AI revolution today.
@stephenwitt also provides a balanced take on Jensen Huang, rather than a hagiography.
Mr Huang comes across as a tough, but not heartless, person to work with (he is known to never fire anyone, except in cases of serious underperformance or egregious acts). Key to Nvidia’s success appears to be an extremely hard-working high-energy founder/leader who had the ability to foresee certain trends ahead of others and then have the courage to go all in, often trying to do what conventional wisdom dismissed (parallel computing, for instance), and managed to handpick a few very effective team members who helped on the execution front. What also seems to distinguish him from many others is his ability to avoid dead ends – “a sense of seeing when a problem has reached a certain level of complexity, and he can’t easily make further progress, and he has to go in a different direction”.
A highly readable account of the ups and downs that Nvidia went through, and the manner in which Mr Huang leads.

What makes Bob Woodward’s “WAR” an interesting read is the many anecdotes sprinkled throughout the book.
This book on how the White House dealt with conflicts, such as the Russia-Ukraine one or in the Middle East, has several ‘deep background’ accounts (meaning all the information acquired from an interviewee could be used/quoted without saying who provided it) that lets the reader be the proverbial “fly on the wall”.
These inside-the-room stories to a large extent compensate for the somewhat one-sided view @realBobWoodward presents, often coming across as rather closely aligned with the Biden administration’s narratives (particularly on Russia/Ukraine).

While "Empire of Al" is an attempt at chronicling the eventful journey of OpenAl, from being an idealistic nonprofit to becoming a Microsoft-owned tech powerhouse, this book by @_KarenHao turned out to be a masterfully written account of the evolution of the artificial intelligence (AI/AGI) industry.
One might sense an ideological tilt and could even disagree with the author on certain points, but all of that is more than compensated by the informative coverage in the book of the many personalities and entities that make up the Al ecosystem - from Elon Musk and Sam Altman to Demis Hassabis and the Amodei siblings, from Google Deepmind and Anthropic to the multitude of datacenters popping up in far-flung places like Chile and Uruguay.

“Growth: A Reckoning” by @danielsusskind is, as the title indicates, an effort to better understand economic growth. Books, or even shorter articles, on this subject are often not easy reads but this is one of those few exceptions.
Well-researched and lucidly written, Dr Susskind’s work is an engaging analysis of what drives growth (as he delves into human history), at what cost it is achieved (discussing the dilemmas it presents), and what can be done to manage the paradox of growth.

Ross Montgomery’s The Murder at World’s End was a great read. It’s a sharp, atmospheric mystery with really well developed characters that will genuinely keep you guessing. It’s smart, tense, wonderfully immersive and genuinely gripping.

The idea that you will be happier if you just had more money to spend is quite an universal one, but not quite true, as @morganhousel argues in his latest book “The Art of Spending Money”.
Housel is a gifted writer, which in itself makes this book an enjoyable read. But the perspectives and insights he shares on saving, investing, and living well too are very relevant, reminding us that beyond a point money ceases to be the primary determinant of well-being. A delightful and useful read.

Lt Gen (Retd) Dhillon’s book on Operation Sindoor is a soldier’s take on the four days of hostilities as India responded to a barbaric terror attack. A useful read for anyone interested in geopolitics and military strategy or just loking for a comprehensive analysis of the chain of events.
(Btw, many might also like the quotes that @TinyDhillon starts each chapter of his book with.)
