Was in Dubai this week for GISEC with the #REDSECLABS and #GuardianGaze team. Today while heading to @DXB for my flight, I somehow managed to leave my phone in the taxi. I am usually extremely careful, almost paranoid, about my phone and devices, especially given the work I do. But these things happen. I was already late for my flight and standing at the airport when I realised it was gone. Losing a phone is a nightmare for anyone. When you work in cybersecurity, it is probably an even bigger one Luckily, I always take the taxi receipt, so I had the trip reference. I called @rta_dubai and explained what had happened. Within a minute, the RTA representative had identified the trip, contacted the driver and got back to me. I told them I was already late for my flight and asked if the driver could bring the phone straight back to the airport. Around 10 minutes later, the same taxi pulled up and the driver handed me my phone. Honestly, I was very impressed with how quickly the whole thing was handled. At a time when every minute mattered, @rta_dubai just got it sorted. Having spent a lot of time between London and Dubai, there are definitely a few things the UK and others could learn from Dubai when it comes to how quickly public services can work. Big thanks to @rta_dubai and the driver. Credit where it is due. Lesson from today: always carry two phones, and always take the receipt. @DXB @DubaiMediaOffice @BrandDubai
