#సుస్మిత కౌన్సిలింగ్ కోసం వచ్చి నా ఎదురుగా కూర్చుందే కానీ ఆమె చూపులు నా ఆఫీస్ అంతా వెతుకుతున్నాయి. మూల మూలలను ఆమె చూపులు వెళ్తున్నాయి. 5 నిముషాలు గడిచాయో లేదో హఠాత్తుగా సుస్మిత తన కుర్చీ లోంచి లేచి నా ఆఫీసులో ఒక మూల ఉన్న డస్ట్ బిన్ లో ఉన్న ఒక చిన్న పుస్తకం తీసుకుంది. 'సర్, ఏమి అనుకోవద్దు ఈ పుస్తకం నేను తీసుకుంటున్నాను.' అని కళ్ళకు అద్దుకుని బ్యాగ్ లో పెట్టుకుంది. ఆ పుస్తకం చాల కాలం క్రితం తన కూతురుకి కౌన్సిలింగ్ కోసం వచ్చిన ఒక పెద్దావిడ వదిలి వెళ్ళింది. అది ఒక పాకెట్ సైజు లో ఉన్న విష్ణు సహస్రనామాల పుస్తకం. చాల కాలం నా ఆఫీస్ టీపాయ్ మీద ఉంది ఇటీవల నా స్వీపర్ కి అడ్డు వచ్చినట్లుంది, చెత్త బుట్టలోకి చేరింది.
ఇటీవల భర్తతో కలసి ఇనార్బిట్ మాల్ కి వెళ్లి వస్తుండగా సుస్మిత హఠాత్తుగా భర్తను కార్ వెనకకు తిప్పమని అరిచింది. అందుకు భర్త నిరాక���ించాడు. అయినా సుస్మిత గొడవ చేసింది. భర్త ఒప్పుకోలేదు. దానితో సుస్మిత గట్టిగా రాజేష్ చెయ్యి లాగింది. కార్ అదుపు తప్పడం తో భర్త స్లో చేసి ప్రక్కకు ఆపాడు. అంతే ఒక్క ఉదుటున కార్ లో నుంచి బయటకు దూకిన సుస్మిత వర్షం పడుతున్నా లెక్క చెయ్యకుండా వెనుకకు పరుగు తీసింది. ఆమె వెనుకే రాజేష్ పరిగెత్తాల్సి ��చ్చింది. ఇదంతా చూసే వాళ్లకు వింతగా అనిపించింది. రాజేష్ సుస్మితాని తరుము తున్నాడనుకొని కొందరు రాజేష్ ని అడ్డగించారు. 100 మీటర్ల వెనుకకు వెళ్లి అక్కడ రోడ్డు ప్రక్కన పడేసి ఉన్న అమ్మవారి విగ్రహాన్ని తీసుకుని కళ్ళకు అద్దుకుని, హృదయానికి అద్దుకుంది సుస్మిత. ఎలాగో ఒక లాగ ఆ రోజు రాజేష్ మేనేజ్ చేసి సుస్మితాను ఇంటికి తీసుకు రాగలిగాడు.
37 సంవత్సరాల సుస్మిత ప్రవర్తన రోజు రోజుకూ ఇబ్బందిగా మ��రడంతో తన భర్త రాజేష్ పుట్టింటికి పంపేశాడు. మొదట్లో ఆమె ప్రవర్తనను అందరూ మెచ్చుకున్నారు. కానీ రాను రాను ఆమె ప్రవర్తన విపరీతంగా అనిపించ సాగింది. రోడ్డుపైన గాని, చెత్తలో గాని, ఇతరుల ఇండ్లలో, ఆఫీస్ లలో ఎక్కడ దేవుడి పటాలు, పుస్తకాలు, విగ్రహాలు పడేసిన వాటిని జాగ్రత్తగా ఇంటికి తీసుకు వెళ్లి పూజ మందిరం లో పెట్టి పూజ చేస్తుంది. ప్రతీ రోజూ క్రమం తప్ప కుండా పూజలు చేస్తుంది. వార��నికి రెండు రోజులు ఉపవాసం ఉంటుంది. ఏ పని చెయ్యాలన్నా స్నానం చేసి కానీ చెయ్యదు. స్నానం చేసాక పూజ చెయ్యక పోతే ఆమె వేరే పని ముట్టుకోలేదు. పూజ చేసే సమయంలో ఒక క్రమ పద్దతిలో చెయ్యాలి. ఒక వేళ ఆ క్రమం కొంచెం తప్పినా తిరిగి మొదటి నుండి చేస్తుంది. దాంతో రాజేష్ ఆఫీస్ కి వెళ్లడం కష్టం అవుతుంది. ప్రతీ రోజు లేట్ బ్రేక్-ఫాస్ట్ లేట్ అవుతూనే ఉంటుంది. చివరికి రాజేష్ బ్రేక్ ఫాస్ట్ చెయ్యడమే మానేశాడు.
స��స్మిత పూజలు చెయ్యడమే కాకుండా తాజాగా వారానికి రెండు సార్లు ఎవరో స్వామిజీని ఇంటికి పిలిచి హోమాలు కూడా చేపించేది. సత్యనారాయణ వ్రతం, వరలక్ష్మి వ్రతం పేర్లు మీద సగటున ప్రతీ నెల ఒక వ్రతం భారీగా చేసుకుంటుంది. పండగల నాటి పూజలతో పాటు కుటుంభ సభ్యుల పుట్టిన రోజుల నాడు, పెళ్లి రోజులు, చనిపోయిన రోజులు ఇలా ఏ రోజు దొరికినా భారీ పూజలు చేస్తూనే ఉంటుంది. ఇంటి నిండా దేవుళ్ళ పటాలు, విగ్రహాలతో నిండ�� పోయింది. అది ఎంతగా ఉందంటే ఒక సగటు దేవాలయంలో ఉండే దేవుని ప్రతిమల కన్నా తన ఇంట్లో రెండింతల ప్రతిమాలుంటాయి.
దీనిని రిలీజియస్ ఓసిడి అంటారు. దీనికి లోనయిన వారు భక్తి పేరుతో గాని, ఆచారాల పేరుతో గాని విపరీతమైన ప్రవర్తనను కలిగి ఉంటారు. ఎక్కడ దేవుడు పటం చూసినా మ్రొక్కేస్తూ ఉంటారు. ఎక్కడ గుడి కనిపించినా ఆగిపోయి మ్రొక్కుతారు. ప్రతీ నెలా తిరుపతి లేదా యాదగిరి గుట్ట దర్శనం చేసుకోక పోతే స్థిమితంగా ఉండలేరు. పూజలు కూడా భారీ ఎత్తున చేస్తారు. ఈ సమస్య చాల మంది ప్రముఖులలో, రాజకీయ నాయకులలో, సినిమా డైరెక్టర్స్, చివరికి సైంటిస్ట్స్ లో కూడా ఉంటుంది. వీరికి డైలీ జీవనానికి సంబంధించిన సమస్యలకన్నా ఆచారాలు పాటించడం ప్రధమంగా కనిపిస్తాయి. కొన్ని సార్లు ఈ సమస్య వల్ల కెరీర్ దెబ్బతినడం, కుటుంభంలో సమస్యలు రావడం, మరి కొన్నిసార్లు చంటి పిల్లలను కూడా పట్టించుకోకుండా, ఆరోగ్యాన్ని లెక్కచెయ్యకుండా పూజలు చేస్తూనే ఉంటారు.
