The AAP Experiment Dr. Sarvani Piratla @sphavisha In 2019, I came across a video by Dhruv Rathee. He was vlogging from a government school in Delhi—a place I never imagined could be so inspiring. The classrooms were spotless, there was a gym, and the vast playground was brought to life with vibrant murals. The children’s faces radiated joy, their eyes brimming with hope. For the first time, I truly believed that the Delhi government was making a tangible difference, and I felt compelled to support such efforts. I’m a Hardware Development Engineer with a PhD, living on the East Coast of the U.S., and a mother to two beautiful children. Today, I enjoy a comfortable life, one built on years of hard work—but the desire to give back to society has always been a burning flame in my heart. I come from Tenali, a small town in Andhra Pradesh. After earning my Bachelor’s degree from IIT Madras, I moved to the U.S. to pursue my Master’s at The Ohio State University. Later, I completed my PhD at Cornell University and began working in the semiconductor industry. When COVID struck, it was like a thunderclap—shattering the illusion of India’s progress. It painfully exposed how much we still lacked and how far we had yet to go. Witnessing the state of affairs in India shook me to my core. I realized that remaining silent and passive was no longer an option. I needed to be part of the change I wanted to see. Around this time, I began following the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leaders, who were working tirelessly with an unwavering commitment to the people. I’ve always believed that real transformation at scale can only happen through politics. AAP’s vision and execution stood out to me as both inspiring and effective. Here was a party truly dedicated to creating meaningful change—and I knew I wanted to contribute. The Delhi government’s accomplishments were meticulously documented in a blog, but the content was lengthy and dense. I feared that very few people would take the time to absorb all the information. That’s when a thought sparked: why not simplify and condense this information into something easily digestible? And so began my journey with AAP. I started by summarizing AAP Delhi government’s core achievements into a two-minute video, translating it into eight languages to maximize its reach. Creating these videos not only helped spread awareness but also gave me a solid foundation in understanding AAP’s governance model. I firmly believe that for a political party to create genuine impact, it needs a rare combination of intention, capability, and courage. Many have good intentions but lack the skills to execute, while others with power and resources often lack the moral compass. When intention, capability, and courage align, the result is transformative. For me, AAP embodies this powerful synergy. Just by transforming government schools, they’ve changed the lives of 1.8 million children—the future of our nation. As I became more involved, I created about 30 videos showcasing AAP's work and promoted them on social media. One day, I pitched an idea to a senior AAP leader: why not tap into the vast potential of remote volunteers, both within India and globally? Taking the initiative, I launched a small-scale social media campaign that quickly grew to include over 50 volunteers. Eventually, I played a key role in managing AAP’s official calling campaigns during the 2024 Delhi Lok Sabha and Haryana elections. Balancing this work with a full-time job and raising two young children hasn’t been easy—especially living in a time zone with a 10.5-hour difference. But my passion for AAP’s mission keeps me going. It has refined my organizational skills and taught me how to mobilize people for impactful campaigns.

Our #RemoteVolunteers are finding new details in the #WorkhouseArchive 👞 No space was given for a shoemakers' and tailor’s workshop when the workhouse converted to the national Union system in 1836. The new space, an interior wall put up in Womens' Receiving Ward, was 7ft wide!
