Chile this conversation is soooooo good! Nashville community members are hopping in to talk all things equity, school distribution, district line drawing, etc and I’m here for it! Please keep it coming! If you missed it, I posted this pic from the Chamber #ReportCard2019 Join us

Still processing today’s Chamber report card presentation, but this picture could be a source for so many conversations. What do you take from it? What conversations would you think need to be had first and what issues would they address? #ReportCard2019

Well, @_samperez_ warned everyone about the parking garage after the #reportcard2019.
Can confirm. Going on 30 mins.
“Nothing else matters if we don’t have an excellent teacher in front of every student.”- Dr. Adrienne Battle
#ReportCard2019 May open the door to the next level conversation. At some point, in supporting our great teachers, we have to talk about unevenness in instruction.
“Nothing else matters unless we have excellent teachers in front of each student.” — @MetroSchools Director Adrienne Battle who promised positive change in pay and support for educators. #ReportCard2019

I’m still thinking of themes @AmyFrogge addressed: Why do people denigrate Nashville’s public schools? Why are newcomers encouraged to send their kids to alternatives to MNPS? What more can we do to ensure schools get support needed even if you don’t have kids? #reportcard2019 \
The recommendation of #ReportCard2019 to reinstate a district leader for Equity & Diversity is a good one. As with Metro Gov’t, the issue has never been the office title, it’s been the effectiveness (or lack, thereof) of people who are chosen for those positions.
"What is the cost of quality public education? We challenge @MetroSchools to think beyond. Aspirationally, what would it cost to provide quality education if there were no batteries? It is upon us, #publicprivatepartnerships to find ways to fund it"
@nashchamber #ReportCard2019
Recommendations:
3. “We must advocate and provide for equitable community investment across the school district.” #ReportCard2019

This is @ByJasonGonzales story on #ReportCard2019 - the essence is that the whole community should take ownership of the vision for @MetroSchools https://t.co/uCVouUIDlB via @Tennessean \
"While receiving a TVAAS composite score of 1 in 2018, MNPS earned a 3 in 2019, indicating students made academic growth equal to the state average." #ReportCard2019
The theme of #WholeCity at the #ReportCard2019 event is reminiscent of @JohnCooper4Nash #NashvilleForEveryone campaign theme, and he’s been referenced a lot by most speakers. Curious to see how these recommendations will play out re: focus and resources.
#ReportCard2019 this year’s special topic was Whole City A school system is a measure of a community’s health and prosperity. We need a whole city commitment to public education.
Into the data segment of #ReportCard2019. I like data, because numbers give us a common language. Here’s a cut to the chase: black kids are still being suspended inequitably from our schools. It rose from last year. This is a problem.

@nashchamber #reportcard2019 meeting we celebrate @MNPS successes and know #equity is essential to narrow disparities. We each can ask, how can we support public school teachers & leaders and increase public school funding.

At the #ReportCard2019 event at the Nashville Public Library. @AmyFrogge impressively spoke truth to power re: how business leaders shouldn’t be “grading schools.” She pointed out that business leaders wouldn’t take advice from non-business experts. Give her props for that.
