🟠In our survey, 35% respondents did split insemination, mostly to avoid FF.
But, with reported rates in this paper and elsewhere, approx. 30 ICSI are needed to avoid 1 FF compared to IVF.

@RitaVassena @AidaPujolM Embryo grading is the main determinant for which embryo to transfer. They transfer the best regardless IVF or ICSI. Yet, IVF in most cases give nice embryos #ReproChallenge

@RitaVassena Very true! That’s why clinics need to analyze their own data and see if it is worthy for that extra work or not! Better than relying on misconceptions and worries. #ReproChallenge

@RitaVassena Very interesting topic and paper. We follow this approach in many cycles. Clinicians and clinics are scared of no ET scenarios. This is a bit assuring to them. We always transfer the IVF embryos. I’m not saying this is absolutely justified cuz of the extra cost. #ReproChallenge
🟥Rate of good-quality embryos was no different between embryos from conventional IVF (16.6%±23.2%) and from ICSI (16.6%±26.6%).
🟥ET done in 510 cycles, and no difference CP, abortion, ectopic pregnancy, and CBR were not different by source of embryo.

➡️555 couples underwent 571 IVF-ICSI split insemination.
➡️First cycle for 92% of them.
➡️Reason for treatment: mild mild asthenozoospermia (200 cycles), tubal factor infertility (112 cycles), or unexplained infertility (259 cycles).
