Top Tweets for #ReproducibilityWeekR4E
As we wrap up today’s discussion, we also want to thank #elifeambassadors @nafisajadavji @mariella_n_paul for contributing tweets for #ReproducibilityWeekR4E and to everyone who has participated in tweets and polls this week!
During #ReproducibilityWeekR4E, we talked about many different ways to make your science more reproducible and there are of course many more ways. What is one thing that you can do today to start making your research more reproducible? #OpenScience #ReproducibilityInScience
In the next few weeks alone, #eLifeAmbassadors and R4E collaborators from @Addgene @CodeOceanHQ @protocolsIO will run workshops at #ASMmicrobe, #evol2019, #ENCODS2019 and #PsuPlantBio! #ReproducibilityWeekR4E
Our #eLifeAmbassador group is also already getting started on these tasks: Translating slides, Helping with twitter (thanks @nafisajadavji @mariella_n_paul!) &Transferring poster templates over #ReproducibilityWeekR4E
Check out @eLifeCommunity Early-Career Advisory Group member @T_Weissgerber's paper for more info on this topic! https://t.co/WjyLA4cB7T #ReproducibilityWeekR4E
For example, bar graphs often show us an incomplete picture of the paper and there are many better options out there #BarBarGraphs #ReproducibilityWeekR4E

What does #DataVisualization have to do with reproducibility? Well, data presentation is the foundation of our collective scientific knowledge. Misleading #DataViz can lead to wrong conclusions of your work. #ReproducibilityWeekR4E

Why don’t you share your favorite #Reproducibility papers and resources (can be yours) with us? We’ll retweet them using #ReproducibilityWeekR4E
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to these slides presented at #PlantBio18! @SonaliRoy_ @lteytelman Sarah Robinson @schwessinger @april_cs @DerSchmelling @T_Weissgerber @TyFordFever @JKamens Steven Burgess #ReproducibilityWeekR4E

Happy Friday, Reproducibility folks! It's the last day of #ReproducibilityWeekR4E and we'll be discussing image and #DataAnalysis and sharing future plans of @repro4everyone. Feel free to hit us up with your questions!

Thanks for following the discussion today! Tomorrow we will end #reproducibilityweekR4E with the topics of Image & Data analysis, as well as share future directions of the @Repro4everyone group. Tweeting will come from #elifeambassador @mariella_n_paul!
Here’s an excellent example of #datasharing from #elifeambassador @mariella_n_paul who has shared all her teaching materials and code through @github 👏👏👏 #datasharing #opendata #opencode #openscience #reproducibilityweekR4E
In April, I taught my first class called "A hands-on introduction to event-related potentials" at @MindaBrain using @fieldtriptoolbx . All materials, including slides and code, are now publicly available. Constructive feedback very much appreciated!

Why share? Depositing with public repositories ensures access to future researchers. Some funders and publishers require deposition and this practice also can improve citation rate + the impact your work has on the field. #openscience #reproducibilityweekR4E

Next topic is #datasharing and we have another twitter poll for you:
Have you ever had difficulty accessing published data?
Please vote and RT! #reproducibilityweekR4E
You can also share your code through code repositories like @codeOcean @mybinderteam which use container technology! #reproducibilityweekR4E

There are also containers like @Docker @BioContainers which allow for self contained packages with all code, programs, and libraries included. No subsequent installation required. #reproducibilityweekR4E

Using interactive programming notebooks like @ProjectJupyter and @rstudio help researchers with even basic bioinformatic skills keep track of and save data analyses, documentation, and visualization. #reproducibilityweekR4E

Another great resource to #reproducible bioinformatic data skills is this book by @vsbuffalo https://t.co/W2UkGb8hj7 #reproducibilityweekR4E
First we’ll discuss Bioinformatic tools to make your analyses more #reproducible! If you’re new to #bioinformatics, a great resource to get you started are workshops from @swcarpentry who teach basic skills required to analyze data in a reproducible manner #reproducibilityweekR4E
Check out this @protocolsIO protocol on how to make your protocol more reproducible, discoverable and user-friendly https://t.co/E7OAATjDel #reproducibilityweekR4E
