3/6 Since there is #chemical #ReproductiveInterference and I observed #InterspecificMating in the lab between these species, I aimed to investigate whether #CharacterDisplacement in ♂️♀️ morphological traits by comparing #sympatric and #allopatric populations of both species
2/6 In this context, the phenomenon of #Reproductive #CharacterDisplacement may occur: where sexual traits (#morphology, #pheromones, #behaviors, etc.) are more different between species in sympatry than in allopatry to avoid #ReproductiveInterference between them
5/5 The #MatingSystem of these species (#ScrambleCompetition,#monandric females) may drive strong selection on the sexual function of #pheremones, reducing the strength of selection on #SpeciesRecognition function. I'll show you more about #ReproductiveInterference at (2 pm ET)!
