TRADITIONAL➕NEW-GEN🚦#TrafficEnforcement:
CULTIVATING CAREFUL🛣️#RoadUsage
This week—🇭🇰#HKPF’s commenced citywide:
🚦Op CLEARVIEW—tackling🚩inattentive driving
🚦Op AIRCHAIN—targeting 🚛goods vehicle drivers’ violations
🚦#DRONE-administered 📹VIDEO-RECORDING TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT
—to:
⚠️raise public awareness of the importance of #RoadSafety
⚠️rectify careless/irresponsible driving/riding behaviour
⚠️drive down the occurrence of traffic violations & accidents
⚠️enhance effectiveness of #LawEnforcement & flexibility of resource deployment by frontline👮♂️👮♀️
—via our 3-pronged strategy:
🚨targeted traffic enforcement
🤝cross-sector collab
🎯public education
🚥 🚥 🚥 🚥 🚥
In JAN-JUL 2025—🇭🇰HK saw:
🚨288 fatal/serious traffic accidents
—a 47% YoY drop📉
🚨321 casualties (deaths/serious injuries)
—a 45% YoY drop📉
⬇️
🚩Examples of hazardous behaviour of DRIVERS:
a 🚗 CAREENED ONTO A PATH WITHOUT DECELERATING❗️—killing a pedestrian who became trapped under the car
a 🚗driver—who DIDN’T PAY ATTENTION TO SITUATIONS ON THE ROAD❗️—knocked down & killed a tunnel staffer repairing vehicles & placing traffic cones
a 🚛heavy goods vehicle rolled forward after the driver GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT APPLYING THE HANDBRAKE❗️—crushing a man between it & another goods vehicle to death
a 🚚driver LOST CONTROL OF the medium goods VEHICLE ON A SLIPPERY ROAD ON A RAINY DAY❗️& it rammed into a kerb in high speed before sliding across 3 lanes—hitting 2 women at a bus stop & killing 1 of them who became trapped under the vehicle
➕
🚩Among the 10 MOTORCYCLISTS killed in accidents (3 of them were Probationary Driving Licence holders):
❗️5—died after losing control of their🏍️ & ending up in crashes
❗️4—got knocked down by other vehicles
❗️1—ran traffic lights & ended up in a crash

🚦Earlier in JUL—🇭🇰HKPF’s🚦TRAFFIC BRANCH HEADQUARTERS reached out to key:
🛞logistics companies
🛞delivery service platforms
🛞driving schools
—reminding drivers/riders to #DriveSafe/#RideSafe⚠️
🚦Officers from our 5 land📍Police Regions gave away warning stickers to goods vehicle drivers to remind them to #SayNoToTailgating & #KeepASafeDistance⚠️
🚥 🚥 🚥 🚥 🚥
Starting this week—our Traffic Branch HQ🚓🏍️& 5 land📍#Police Regions have launched large-scale law enforcement operations spanning ANY TIME & ANYWHERE across🇭🇰:
●OP CLEARVIEW🚦
tackling🚩INATTENTIVE DRIVING
(incl.❗️careless driving❗️speeding❗️disobeying traffic lights/signs)
●OP AIRCHAIN🚦
tackling🚩#TrafficViolations BY GOODS VEHICLE DRIVERS
(incl.❗️dangerous driving❗️driving defective/overloaded vehicles❗️driving vehicles with insecure loads)
—using🔵traditional means:
🚧setting road blocks to intercept vehicles
📹collecting evidence from elevated spots
➕
●DRONE-ADMINISTERED VIDEO-RECORDING TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT🚦
—using🌐new-generation means:
unprecedentedly deploying🖲️drones as new traffic enforcement tools
🚨On SEP 10, 2025—the police piloted drone-administered ‘📹Video-Recording Traffic Enforcement’ at designated roads in non-urban areas:
📍Shek O Road
📍Route Twisk
🛣️Being narrow, twisty & accident-prone dual-lane roads (which saw 🚩4 & 6 fatal accidents respectively in the past 5 years)—these are the usual routes of choice among motorbiking/motor-racing fanatics.
🛣️The lack of elevated spots to conduct ‘📹Video-Recording Traffic Enforcement’ at these spacious roads used to limit traffic enforcement.💡However, with the deployment of drones made feasible now—frontline enforcement action can:
✨transcend geographical limitations
✨become more flexible & in sync with the ongoing development of cases—enhancing law enforcement & deterrence against⛔️DANGEROUS DRIVING
🚦Embracing #AdvancedTech—🇭🇰HKPF’s adopting a goal-oriented approach to keep boosting #TrafficSafety across our city.
🚥 🚥 🚥 🚥 🚥
BE ✅ATTENTIVE ✅PATIENT ✅LAW-ABIDING ROAD USERS
