かつて、米国精神医学会の診断マニュアル DSMでは、DSM-III（1980年）に「性同一性障害（Gender Identity Disorder）」として（精神疾患として）収録されました。DSM-IV（1994年）でも、引き続き「性同一性障害」として記載がありましたが、2013年のDSM-Ⅴでは「性同一性障害」は削除されました。
WHO国際疾病分類（ICD）では…
1990年に採択されたICD-10では「精神および行動の障害」の章に「性同一性障害」として分類されましたが、ICD-11（2019年採択、2022年1月発効）では、「性同一性障害」という言葉は廃止され、 「Gender incongruence（性別不合）」という新しい分類名となりました。この分類は、精神疾患の章から、「性の健康に関連する状態」 の章に移されました。
つまり、「トランスジェンダーであることは精神疾患ではない」というのが、WHOの公式見解です。
まとめると…
かつてトランスジェンダーであることは、精神疾患として扱われていましたが、現在は、「性自認の多様性そのもの」は病気ではないというのが、国際機関、医学界の到達です。
診断名を用いて、医学的介入をするのは、本人の強い苦痛や生活上の支障があり支援が必要な時に限られます。
参政党市議の発言は、時代錯誤のとんでもない差別発言であり、許されません。
撤回・謝罪し、多様性や人権について一から学び直すべきです。

FOLLOWING TRANS IDEOLOGY WAS NOT A SOLUTION
When #RODG first entered our lives I reached out to those with more experience than I to get advice. I was guided to the GeMS clinic in Boston Children’s and called to make an appointment.
But I had loads of questions first, many more than the person who answered the phone really wanted to answer but I needed to have some sense of what to expect before I took my child to see a doctor I didn’t know.
One day I’ll write more about this but over the phone, never having met either of us and only knowing as much about our situation as I chose to tell, the GeMS person…who to my knowledge was not a clinician…told me that children know who they are, it’s very rare for them regret transitioning and that this cohort of kids has very high risk of suicide.
We hear about kids being diagnosed on the first visit but my daughter was diagnosed over the phone, by someone who had never met her based on what I was saying.
I did make the appointment but at that time GeMS was booking a long way out so I had time to “wait and see”. During that time I read “Irreversible Damage” by @AbigailShrier and discovered Wider Lens with @stellaomalley3 and @SashaLPC. In the end we decided to cancel the visit. It’s been five years, I think, and my daughter is applying to colleges now. I shudder to think where we would be if I’d kept the appointment.
