It is humbling to realize many of these trees were alive hundreds of years before the pyramids were built. When I see the baby Bristlecones, it is mind-bending to realize I will live a full life while it has lived only 1/100th of it’s life.

We really suck.
So when I drove by on Thursday and saw water in the lake for the first time in 100+ years, I wept.
“They” say this wet Owens is an ecological failure which only happened because parts of the LA aquaduct collapsed during our heavy rains this year.

Owens Lake, once one of the largest lakes in the Eastern Sierra before being drained by the LA Aqueduct in 1913, is making a major comeback due to heavy runoff generated by California's record winter.
The lake has grown to nearly 25 square miles, its largest size in 110 years.

So I listened to @GlenCampbell or @JacksonBrowne’s version of “These Days” for, oh, four hours straight as I drove through the majestic Owen’s Valley feeling as if I were being pushed through, as if I were being born and dying at the same time.

And I noticed @GlenCampbell changed “losing” to “healing” in @JacksonBrowne’s masterpiece, “These Days.”
And I lost it.
Because it was the perfect message at the perfect time in the perfect place.
I had a cry like I haven’t had in ages.
