#RSADO says Afars have been dispossessed, displaced and persecuted for decades — stripped from their Red Sea homeland and denied all rights under the Isaias regime.
“The Eritrean government only understands the language of force,” said RSADO commander Ibrahim Harun.

News: #Ethiopia-based, anti-Eritrea regime #Afar group announces graduation of new fighters
The Red Sea Afar Democratic Organization (#RSADO), an Ethiopia-based political and insurgent group, announced the graduation of a new cohort of fighters following more than three months of intensive military training.
In a statement released after the graduation ceremony, the group’s leader and commander of its forces, Ibrahim Haroun, praised the recruits for their discipline and determination, describing the completion of their training as a step toward strengthening the organization’s military capabilities.
Ibrahim Haroun reiterated the organization’s stated mission of defending the rights of Red Sea Afar communities and opposing what it described as repression by the #Eritrean government. He said the group intends to enhance its operational capacity, including the development of naval capabilities, to meet what he called “current political and military requirements.”
The group also called on Eritrean opposition movements to unite under a common front to challenge the Eritrean government, which Haroun accused of threatening peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.
RSADO expressed “sincere gratitude” to the Afar regional government and people in Ethiopia for what it described as their continued support of the organization’s cause, calling their solidarity “a key pillar” in sustaining its activities.

Military Statement by the Red Sea Afar Democratic Organization (RSADO)
The Red Sea Afar Democratic Organization (#RSADO) proudly announces the graduation of a new batch of its brave fighters, following more than three months of intensive and advanced military training. This comprehensive program covered all aspects of direct and indirect combat, offensive and defensive operations, marksmanship and sniping, physical fitness, guerrilla warfare tactics, and strategies for safe entry into and withdrawal from battles—including operations in populated areas, enemy encirclement, and the establishment of military cordons. This graduating class represents a key milestone in the organization’s ongoing struggle to protect the rights of the Red Sea #Afar people and secure the liberation of their lands and achievements.
On this occasion, the organization’s Chairman and Commander-in-Chief, Ibrahim Haroun, praised the discipline and determination of the fighters, stressing that this accomplishment reflects RSADO’s commitment to building a disciplined and capable military force to confront the repressive Eritrean regime. He reaffirmed the organization’s unwavering commitment to defending the rights of the Red Sea Afar people and achieving their full right to self-determination—including the right to secession, if necessary—and to protecting the community from forced displacement and ethnic cleansing.
Commander Ibrahim Haroun, Chairman of RSADO, stated that the next stage requires the development of the organization’s naval capabilities, affirming that the leadership is working to establish a trained and well-equipped naval force in line with current political and military demands.
In the opening of his speech, Commander Haroun declared:
“The sectarian Afwerki regime knows only the language of force. Armed resistance is the only path to uproot it and to build an Eritrea that respects the rights of all its components—where every individual and every community has a place and can thrive.”
He added that the continued rule of Isaias Afwerki and his racist regime poses a threat not only to the Eritrean people but also to neighboring countries and major international interests in the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa, thereby endangering regional peace and stability. He called on neighboring states and the international community to recognize this threat and to support Eritrean forces opposing this tyrannical regime.
RSADO renewed its call to all Eritrean opposition factions to unite under the umbrella of the broader Eritrean political forces—which include strong and influential organizations and parties—to form a cohesive front capable of confronting the system of repression and dictatorship in Eritrea.
In conclusion, the organization expressed its sincere gratitude to the leadership and people of the Afar Region in #Ethiopia for their continued and steadfast support of RSADO’s struggle. This support, the statement emphasized, remains a vital foundation for strengthening the organization’s capacities and ensuring its continued defense of the Red Sea Afar people and their legitimate rights in #Eritrea.
