@OnalaskaMBB @JohnCarrier42 Great points! I listened to a lot of that.
I noticed it all went away when we were standing on a ladder, cutting down nets

@JohnCarrier42 I've always stood by the idea that not all coaches are cut out to play fast.
It requires a different mindset.

Designed BY a lifer in the high school game. . .
. . . FOR high school coaches looking for a SIMPLE approach to installing a fast pace approach to offensive basketball.

2/2
🏀 Focus on attacking in the 1st 9 seconds of a possession--w no early-offense X's & O's to complicate things. (We call "Free Time")
🏀 Make sure transition offense is a part of everything you do, from drills to open gym style games.

Wanna ramp up the pace next season?
We break it into 3 🔑 parts
🏀 Instilling a 🔥 fast-paced mindset w a focus on scoring in 9.9 seconds or less.
🏀 Teaching simple early concepts to execute vs a balanced D.
🏀 Making Press O an extension of fast break O.

4 🔑 early-season truths if you're ramping up the pace
🏀 Every practice plan must be laced w drills that establish a running mindset
🏀 Your players are still working to find their maximum functional speed
🏀 It's normal for things to look sloppy at times

I've spent hours this summer working w high school coaches on ramping up their running games.
🏀 Here's a text I received from 1 of my "Relentless Full Court Offense" coaches that perfectly summarizes my philosophy that a great running game shouldn't be complicated

Has handling the press given your program problems?
3 Steps to fixing it this summer:
🏀 Rebrand player mindset from "break" the press to "ATTACK" the press (to score).
🏀 Install press O designed to attack & score.
🏀 Commit chunks of time to repetition.

If you're going to teach fast-paced 🏀. . .
☆Your press offense should be an extension of your fast break.
▪︎Spacing
▪︎Organization (on made shots)
▪︎Attack to score mindset
☆Make the players believe the press is doing your running game a HUGE favor!

Outside-the-box tip to help improve your fast break:
☆Practice press offense regularly!
Think about it:
》Effective Press offense requires--
▪︎Excellent spacing
▪︎advancing the ball via the pass (more than the dribble)
▪︎all 5 players to be 💯 connected

1 Simple "Do" & 1 "Don't" to teaching fast break Offense:
》DO: Instill a "Fire" mindset in the players--which is to attack to score w in the 1st 7-9 seconds (or less).
》DON'T: Install a bunch of tricky early offense until max functional speed is 💯 established.

The "FIRE" FAST BREAK
Like a fire drill, the goals are--
》To move from 1 end to the other as fast as possible w out being in a hurry.
》Have a general idea of where to end up when we get there.
》Evaluate the situation once we get there & adjust accordingly.

@CoachHackGO One of my faves, Coach Hack, to quick-hit a defense that does a good job of initially getting back.
#RunNStun
@CoachHackGO I like it, Coach Hack! It all works when you instill a "Fire" mindset and teach it well.

An opponent will oftentimes try to counter our fast-paced transition attack by sending defenders back on the shot.
Here's a nice little quick hitting action to "flow" into when the 5 trails (or a big 4) before the defense can get set:

@CoachHackGO @UOrangemen A great running team preys on the scorer who celebrates.
Our philosophy: We'll get 3 less than 3 seconds after your 2.

@BrianDulik @CSU_MBasketball Fun it was. @coachdgates looks to be bringing hope back to the Vikes. The passion we had he seems to possess and he transfers his energy to the players and to the floor. Even though they wouldn't run with '86, lol, they are playing well! #RunNStun
