Security for SARCs is another important part of services. In cases of aggression by perpetrators, against survivors or the staff of SARCs, security needs to be provided to contain the situation. #SARCNetworkConference #16Days #HerStoryOurStoryNG
More work needs to be done on helplines that survivors call. Training of staff to better attend to survivors is important, as the willingness of survivors to report cases and get help, hinges on the reception of their calls. #16Days #SARCNetworkConference
RoLAC and the #SARC reps discuss ways of effectively communicating and transferring information to every SARC in the country. Reps will be part of a messaging group, so they can send messages across the different SARCs at the same time. #SARCNetworkConference #16DaysOfActivism
RoLAC is considering a program to tackle the challenges faced by SARCs and ways to effectively apply some support in areas the government budgeting doesn't cover. RoLAC can also help with helping to get your state government involved with #SARCs. #SARCNetworkConference
There should be establishment of community centers for rural areas, so anybody can get help. There will be quarterly meetings to learn to access community resources for SARCs. More shelters will be created and forensic training will be implemented. #SARCNetworkConference
A Lagos SARC rep suggests there should be sub-committees within the teams involved with SARCs in Lagos to help improve coordination. There should be learning visits to other SARCs to understand how #SARC services are carried out. #SARCNetworkConference
The Ministry of Women Affairs is a major SARC steering ministry. There are plans for 5 more SARCs to be created. MOWA has developed a process for more awareness to be created for SARCs and services provided. #SARCNetworkConference
For the Yobe SARC, The Nigerian police has forwarded 384 cases since January 2018. Of these cases, 194 were disposed and 189 accused were convicted. 5 were discharged. #SARCNetworkConference
Quarterly briefings on the Kano SARC are important. The center is inadequate for all the LGAs, so more centers will be established and access to them will be improved on.
