Here is the form πthat EVERY county library director and every locally appointed (by their elected county council) Library Board of Trustees Chair signed in the state of South Carolina last year. It states that they "hearby certify this Library to be in compliance with all S.C. statutes and regulations pertaining to State Aid"
Last June- the legislature passed a proviso that stated that the libraries had to have all books that appealed to the prurient interest of children, out of the kids' sections of the library.
39 of 42 counties are not in compliance as of today-- which can easily be determined by a search of their online catalogs. I sampled 13 book titles, which we've looked at in Greenville County-- who IS compliant thanks to the Library Board.
State taxpayers doled out $13.6M last year to the public libraries in state aid.
