As more than one public commenter mentioned, THIS #SF2198 BILL WILL CAUSE IRREPARABLE HARM TO IOWA'S ECONOMY and ITS ABILITY TO RETAIN AND ATTRACT NOT ONLY TEACHERS, BUT PROFESSIONALS OF ALL TYPES. The #braindrain is real and getting worse. 9/

The @IowaGOP pushing #SF2198 are disengenous at best, dangerous at worst. They're there to rile up their base. That's it. Unfortunately, many Iowans are very susceptible to this emotional manipulation - and that face is exploited to the highest by our republican legislators. 7/

Public commentary was prolific and passionate. From the #SF2198 supporting side (i.e., in favor of prosecuting teachers), we heard from many of the same voices who keep showing up to these forums all over town, over and over and over. 2/

Hearing #SF2198 summary: a thread. 🧵 @zaunforcongress and @VoteJakeChapman have virtual-signaling down to a science. It just might be the only type of science they believe in. I now dub them Beulah Z & Beulah C, in a shout out to the pearl-clutching mom in #FieldOfDreams. 1/
