For #BritishScienceWeek Class 7 explored the amazing work of Michael Faraday, learned how electromagnets work, investigated magnetic forces, and even looked at how friction affects movement. So many curious minds asking brilliant questions today! 🔬🧲 #STEM #sjsbScience

Class 6 have set up an investigation in order to answer our enquiry question - which liquids damage tooth enamel the most? Eggshells will act as our teeth and we will monitor the changes in them over the course of a week to determine how much damage has been caused #sjsbscience

Our Super Scientists in #sjsbclass7 are investigating the effects of sugary drinks on tooth enamel by soaking eggs in cola, diet cola, water and orange juice. 🥚🥤 They’ll be monitoring changes over the week and recording their results. @StJosephStBede #sjsbscience #sjsbachieve

Reception have been learning all about polar bears ❄️🐻❄️ We explored where they live, polar bear facts, and if a polar bear and penguin could be friends! We investigated blubber and created beautiful artwork 🎨

In science we have been learning about the role our teeth play in the digestive process. We made play dough models, labelled the different types of teeth and discussed their function 🦷 @StJosephStBede #sjsbscience

In science, we began with a game of “Guess the Baby” featuring some of our staff! 👶 Then we explored the first year of human life—discussing what babies need, researching key milestones and creating a timeline of average development for a baby. #sjsbscience @StJosephStBede

In Science, KS1 went on a woodland walk looking for micro-habitats. The children loved searching high and low to find where the birds, insects and mice live. Neville joined us on the hunt to find micro-habitats #SJSBScience @StJosephStBede @STOC_CAT 🐞 🐛 🐦 🐭

🌿Class 4 teamed up with the rest of KS1 (and Neville🐶) to go on a woodland adventure! Together, we explored microhabitats, discovered minibeasts and shared scientific knowledge in nature🍃🔍 #SJSBKS1 #SJSBScience #OutdoorLearning @StJosephStBede @STOC_CAT

In science we’ve been investigating whether having a longer femur helps us jump further. We found that it wasn’t always the longest femurs that jumped the furthest and concluded other factors matter, such as muscle strength and jump technique @StJosephStBede #sjsbscience 💪🏼🦴
Out in the woods with KS1 @StJosephStBede Exploring micro-habitats and discovering the tiny worlds beneath our feet and high in the trees! #sjsbScience #Outdoorlearning @STOC_CAT

We have had a great afternoon at the Primary Science Challenge at @StGabsBury. We took part in lots of interesting science investigations and scored 2nd place for our enthusiasm and effort towards each task! 🧪🥼🔬 #sjsbscience @StJosephStBede

In science, we have been investigating whether our femur length affects how far we can jump. We found that the longer the femur, the further we can jump but that other factors also affect this such as how strong our leg muscles are and our jumping technique. 💪🦴#sjsbscience

What a day we’ve had, getting excited about science and sharing our learning with other Greater Manchester Schools. @GreatSciShare @StJosephStBede #sjsbscience 🥼🔬🧪🧫

We have been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly 🦋 We looked after our very own caterpillars and watched them turn into beautiful butterflies 🐛 🦋 Yesterday, set them free into God’s wonderful world 🌍 #SJSBScience @StJosephStBede @STOC_CAT

KS1 have been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. We have looked after some caterpillars that eventually turned into butterflies. We drew our own life cycle and explained each section. Today was the day we let our butterflies free! @StJosephStBede #sjsbScience @STOC_CAT

KS1 had some very special visitors from @Bugfest last week! The children learnt lots of interesting facts about the tarantula, millipede, giant snail, cockroach and scorpion 🦂🐌🕷️🪳 #SJSBScience @StJosephStBede @STOC_CAT

Class 11 have been taking part in a heart dissection as part of our study of the circulatory system. This practical experience deepened their understanding of how the heart functions and sparked thoughtful scientific enquiry. #sjsbscience @StJosephStBede

Our Laudato Si representatives have been exploring how we can harness the force of the wind by taking part in the Great Sustainability Challenge. We created our own wind turbine to investigate how air flow affects voltage generated. @GreatSciShare #sjsbscience @StJosephStBede

#sjsbclass7 spent time today learning how to use classification keys and created their own version Animalium to showcase their learning from this half term! #sjsbscience @StJosephStBede

For @ScienceWeekUK #SJSBClass3 carried out an investigation based on the book ‘Izzy Jones’s Quantum World’. We wanted to help Izzy spin to the best of her ability so we tested whether socks, grippy socks or shoes would be the best 👍🏼#SJSBScience @StJosephStBede
