In the month leading up to the #SMSC25, as well as throughout the event itself, highly courageous, passionate, & knowledgeable skill acquisition professionals came together to put their craft to the test for the right to be part of the inaugural group to earn the Certified Skill Acquisition Specialist (CSAS) credential.
When the dust had settled, 12 individuals earned the CSAS in this first group.
We are now lining up the 2nd group of interested professionals who are up for this unique challenge that the CSAS testing brings which will include in-person testing in Arizona in the fall.

Fresh off the announcement of his special new skill acquisition oriented role within @BrownUniversity football program, @EMERGENTMVMT co-founder @TylerYearby delivered a fantastic session at #SMSC25 on how to design slices of the sport to facilitate the emergence of adaptive movement skills.
There, he leaned into his vast experience working with a wide variety of athletes including out in our summer learning environments for high-level American football players.
It's always fun to see what's going on in the minds of individuals after any Sport Movement Skill Conference.
If you were present in St. Paul for #SMSC25 this past week, what is top of mind for you and how do you see it playing out in changing your approach to practice design?
The Sport Movement Skill Conference 2025 is now over & we are all gradually trying to come up for air after all the endless whirlwinds that come with running an event completely in person again.
Lots going on in my mind at the moment & lots more thoughts undoubtedly will follow this week as I reflect upon it all—I will attempt to share as they emerge.
However, one thing is clear: the individuals who have elected to go all in on doing the deep work are truly doing some extraordinary things across sports…and the individuals who continue to show up in the community are having deep interactions that address various challenges & show up in their practice environments to facilitate enhanced skill for athletes.

At this time in 5 weeks, on 6/27/25 at #SMSC25 in St. Paul, MN, I will be delivering a hands-on session alongside football players, bringing attendees into our learning environment, so all can see how the ideas live and breathe for us on the field!
This will build upon my lecture session the day before (6/26) where I will be working through my process of skilled movement analysis, showing the group how I use game film to dissect the movement behaviors of players to design better learning environments and the practice activities present there.
At this year's #SMSC25, on 6/26-6/27 in St. Paul, MN I will be kicking things off with a session on 'Using performance analysis to inform learning environment design.'
From there, @TylerYearby will be offering up his thoughts on 'Utilizing slices of the sport to help athletes adapt their skills'.
The practices of so many across the field would benefit tremendously if more would truly lean into studying the nature of complex adaptive systems and the nonlinearity involved.
At #SMSC25 we lean into the messiness of real-world sport.
