Among our older prints in #Telugu is వైణికరాగవర్ధని Vaiṇikarāgavardhani by Sakhārāmārāvu & Kokkonda Venkata Ratnam.
It is a 1873 textbook for learners of veena (vīṇā), a long-necked lute, in the Carnatic #music genre of South India.

#Telugu has a long and rich literary tradition. SOAS_SpecColl has only a dizain Telugu #manuscripts, most of them written on palm leaves.
Palm leaves were used as writing support in South Asia and Southeast Asia since the 5th century BCE, and probably much earlier.

#Telugu is the 3rd most spoken language in South Asia after Hindi & Bengali. It is mainly spoken in the south Indian states of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana.

Gradually Gospels and other religious texts came to be written in both #Coptic and Arabic side by side.
This is the case in Ms13996, a manuscript presumably dating from the 9th century: Fuṣūl min al-Anājīl
or Gospels for Good Friday, Saturday and Easter
Sunday, etc.

#Coptic was derived from Ancient Egyptian & written in a modified Greek alphabet. From the 7th century and the Arab conquest, Coptic scholars started producing works on Coptic grammar & vocabulary, including #Arabic equivalents.

It includes the Lord's Prayer in Hebrew, Syriac, Arabic, Greek and Armenian.
