Finally taking Horde Wars for a little spin, in preparation for my show with @DM_Blackwall tomorrow.

One of the things i enjoy about HW right out of the gate is character creation- simply choosing languages led me into reading about the world, and I ended up dreaming up a character i really like, with personality and attitude, and look forward to playing.
Cormac Mac Airt Brigantes. Human(Eastron, but dresses Mercian)
Dungeon Delver, Blademaster.
He's from barbarian stock, but took to civilized life like a fish to water (as opposed to being the proverbial fish out of water). He prefers to make his living as a Blademaster in Mercian cities, but will sell his services as a Dungeon Delver.
One of the functions of solo play is to learn book control (HOLLAH @Crossface02 ) and system mastery, so i decided that my initial scene would be Cormac fighting a duel he's been paid to champion. As such, his employer's opponent also hired a mercenary to fight in his place. After looking at the mercenaries in the book, i decided that a Mercian Heavy Infantry fit the bill. Let's dive right in!
Here's how the scene played out:
The duel was about to start when i realized the stat block for the opponent included HEAVY ARMOR, where Cormac was in a Gambeson
So Cormac decided to shame him into changing into a Gambeson, too. I settled on a DC 8, shouldn't be too hard. 4 on the die, but +4 because of training in Influence and Courtier feature, so SUCCESS!
So now at least he's similarly armored... He just uses a shield and a zweihander... With two attacks per round...
... Yeah, much better.
The Mercian Heavy proceeds to kick Cormac's ass royally. Doesn't suffer a scratch in return and renders the Blademaster unconscious in two rounds. Cormac's reputation about town shall soar to new heights, no doubt!
Luckily, one of the witnesses was skilled in medicine and managed to stabilize our intrepid hero before bleeding out.
This concludes my first exciting episode of Horde Wars Solo! Despite my glaring lack of success, it was fun, fast and easy to pick up. Looking forward to further adventures with Cormac... Even in a group game!

Returning to Dungeon! And Dungeons and Dragons
Wherein i use the 0e rules (and Wight Box) and the board from the Dungeon! Board game to play a recreation of my favorite character from childhood: Fruit Fly the Elf. (He was my first character to get to 2nd level, back in the Holmes set days. Will remember him forever โค๏ธ)
I'm picking up where i left off yesterday- which was having barely started.
My premise is this: Veyadrim (Elvish for Fruit Fly) had been magically imprisoned in this Dungeon by some unknown, shaper, electric being. However, instead of being confined to a cell, he must explore this dungeon to fight monsters and collect treasure. The Main Gallery is his safe zone, and where he can camp and rest safely. He cannot escape the dungeon until he accumulates a treasure hoard of 10,000gp.
I'll be exploring the dungeon using the rules for movement and exploration as normal, but the contents of the rooms and the treasures inside will be determined by the cards for the board game!
