46. Rec - The Fallen Odyssey by @core_author is well written and seems like a very fun read. The prologue in this one actually serves the important purpose of letting you know that it's not going to be all in a modern setting. But chapter 1 was all in a modern setting, which π§΅

This was one of the puzzles in the 2024 #SPFNO K-12 Puzzle Solving Championship in Bellevue, WA. If you want to win the contest in record time (solving 20/20 various mates in 1-5 in about two and a half minutes), you have to solve this one in 15 seconds or less (including WRITING down all the moves)! In 20+ years at the #SPFGI, #SPFNO, and #SPFWO, etc. IM Luke Harmon-Vellotti still holds the record! White to move and mate in 5!

The last player to finish my simul today is Julian Chen! He fought as hard as he could until mate. π Overall, 500 players competed in the 2024 #SPFNO! Next year will be our 20th anniversary! A lot of exciting stuff are planned!
In a few hours, we will crown the winners of the Open and Girls' section. Each will receive, in addition to their trophies, a scholarship to @websteru, valued at over $100,000!
