On June 2, 1967, The Beatles released Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. It remains the biggest recording event in rock history. "I think it was a Sunday afternoon when BBC radio said they were going to play the whole album, which was unheard of on British radio. I don’t think there was a car driving in the roads anywhere, or anybody on the street. Everybody was inside. Everybody wanted to hear this Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album." --Rick Wakeman of #Yes "I showed up at art college one morning and the whole art school had ceased to work. Every single class from printing to photography to sculpture and painting was playing a different track from Sgt. Pepper and poring over the album cover. It was such an influential moment." --Kevin Godley of #10cc and #GodleyandCreme "When that album came out, it changed everything. People were just dumbstruck. Everybody raved about it, everybody played it all the time. I think of any album that I’ve listened to, Sgt. Pepper must be the biggest one of all. It was a sort of historic moment — it changed fashion, it was more than music. It was a way of life almost." --Martin Barre of #JethroTull "You have to remember that this was more than just music. The Sgt. Pepper album was what we marveled to, the music that we made love to, the music that we took into our hearts and dreamt along with." --Steve Hackett of #Genesis
