Results from last night’s downtown sobriety #SPScheckstop: 400 cars checked, 23 roadside breath tests - all passed, 1 Standardized Field Sobriety Test on driver using cannabis - resulted in an immediate licence suspension and vehicle impound. Thanks to @maddcanada volunteers.

Officers at last night’s #SPScheckstop dealt with a variety of situations: 2 impaired drivers - 1 by alcohol the other by cannabis, a driver with arrest warrants and another from whom they seized crystal meth. A ticket was also written to a mom holding her unrestrained baby!

December’s Traffic Safety Spotlight is impaired driving and in the spirit of the season, the SGI Not-Ready-For-Christmas Singers sang three soon-to-be-classic holiday hits: “‘Tis The Season To Drive Sober,” “Christie Was Impaired,” and “Call a Friend, Hail a Cab, Stay the Night.”
Our #SPScheckstop last night resulted in 7 drivers being suspended for 72 hrs (3 for drugs) and 1 driver being charged under the criminal code for impaired driving. All 8 vehicles were impounded. 7 ppl were also charged with having liquor in the vehicle. #SKcheckstop

Several hundred motorists met our #SPScheckstop crew last night. Although 6 roadside breath tests were administered, we’re happy to report that no one was suspended or charged for driving impaired. As we enter the holiday season, let’s see if we can keep that up! #SKcheckstop
