#OnThisDay in 1927, the liner #SSMalolo, designed by William Francis Gibbs, collided with the freighter #SSJacobChristensen. Despite extensive damage, Gibbs' safety features kept her afloat, and she returned to New York carrying 7,000 tons of seawater. https://t.co/14wbKUjalb
