By the way, the previous highest score in a quarter was actually 27 by Swifts in 2020. In that match, Swifts were trailing Fever at halftime, then Sophie Garbin was put on at GS and proceeded to have one of the best individual quarters of all time, scoring 21 goals. #SSNStatChat

Last night's last quarter of 28 from @sc_lightning was the highest score in a quarter in Super Netball. However, they did it with the help of 3 super shots. So @MelbourneVixens still holds the record for most successful attempts in a quarter... 26 v Fever in 2018.

Thunderbirds had only 13 general play turnovers against Firebirds in round 10. When the same teams met in round 5, they had 30!
In Thunderbirds' previous game in round 9 (only 3 days prior), they had the most general play turnovers of any team for the year, 33! π―

At the other end of the scale is Swifts, who were the least penalised side on average last year. They've seen quite a spike in their penalties. They're averaging slightly more than Firebirds in 2022, something we would not have thought possible last year.

The other one is Firebirds. They were clearly the most penalised team of 2021 and they started the year with 91 against Vixens!
Since then, the introduction of Ruby Bakewell-Doran, has seen their penalties drop, so they're now averaging 6 per game less than 2021.

Obviously, 5 rounds is still a bit early but it's enough to give us a guide on some trends (and some of these are quite surprising).
The least penalised team so far in 2022 is Giants. They're one of just 2 teams whose average penalties per game have come down.

A bit of talk about umpires and penalty counts on here today, so we did a check on the first 5 rounds compared to 2021.
Firstly, 6 of the 8 teams are averaging more penalties per game than in 2021. And the average total penalties are up by just over 9 per game...
