Poverty & unemployment were identified as fueling the conflict in #SouthSudan at SSYLF meeting in Yambio. It was agreed that #SSYLF will need to develop economic programs for youth. We agreed to form committees to take SSYLF messages to all the payams and bomas in the state.
Discussion was honest& frank at #SSYLF meeting in #Yambio. The youth discussed all sorts of issues that were dividing & leaving them vulnerable for politicians to exploit them. They raised among others the problem of tribalism & our inability to see ourselves as #SouthSudan|ese.

@LaurenPinDC @joshua_craze @igadsecretariat Not that we are the alternative, but in conjunction with others, #SSYLF is leading the youth dialogue process in #SouthSudan. The idea behind it is to get the youth away from politicians who are using them to perpetuate violence. They need to unite & to chart their own future.
Earlier this afternoon, I was pleased to meet the leaders of various #SouthSudan|ese communities and associations in Uganda. We had fruitful discussions about how to restore peace in our country and keep our people in refugee camps hopeful. Very productive meeting! #SSYLF
Following our partial tour of Bahr el Ghazal (Wau, Kwajok, Aweil, Wanjok, & Nyamlel), we decided that we also needed to extend the #SSYLF’s message of peace, unity and youth empowerment to Equatoria. We came to ththe historic town of Torit.
