On the botched execution of Christa Pike and what should happen next, Whoopi Goldberg says the state should do whatever the mother of Pike's victim, Colleen Slemmer wants, which is try the execution again: "I just want to say the victim, Colleen Slemmer's mother, her name is Mae Martinez. She and her family raised money to drive to Nashville from Florida to witness the execution they had been promised for 31 years. They are rightfully frustrated that that promise has not been kept and me personally, I think you should ask the mother what should happen now. I think they should ask her. Because, you know, they tortured her daughter and there's a reason she [Pike] was where she was, but I think it's not -- it's not a question that the state should answer."
