Even though we missed #sandysaturday, doesn’t mean we can’t post on a #sandysunday! Today, we feature our last island of travels, Niʻihau. We highlight Keamano Beach, Lehua Island, and Puʻuwai Beach.
All photos from HHS, Beaches of Hawaiʻi Photograph Collection.

This #sandysaturday we feature our last few beaches on Oʻahu-Punalu'u Beach Park, Lanikai, and Makapu'u.

Next up for our #sandysaturday travels we visit the island of Molokaʻi.
Our first stop, Kiowea Park. Kiowea is a variant spelling of kioea, the ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi term for the bristle-thighed curlew, a large migratory shoreline bird.

Today, our travels around Maui stops at Lahaina. This #sandysaturday instead of featuring a specific beach, we honor and remember this historic town.

This #sandysaturday we feature Mai Poina ʻOe Iaʻu Beach Park on Maui, photo by Grant Tanoura, 1979, HHS.
Mai Poina ʻOe Iaʻu is a gentle command in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi that means “Forget me not.” This park was dedicated to the memory of Maui veterans who died in combat.

The #SandySaturday we feature Palauea Beach on Maui, Photo by Grant Tanoura, 1979. Beaches of Hawaiʻi Collection, HHS.
Palauea is the name of an ahupua‘a (land division) in the moku (district) of Honua‘ula on Maui that includes this secluded beach of the same name.

This #sandysaturday we feature Mokulau, Maui.
Mokulau is typical of the boulder beaches that characterize the district Kaupō. Mokulau is probably best known as the site of Huialoha Church in the background.

This #sandysaturday we visit Waiʻānapanapa State Park.
Waiʻānapanapa means “glistening water” and is the name of a large water-filled cava located on the park ground.

This #SandySaturday we explore the 17 miles of Kohala shoreline on the Island of Hawaiʻi. One of the most significant historical associations is Kamehameha I.

I think the sun is setting here, but we're gonna pretend it's not, and say Good Morning! 😄
