Recently I toured the #SandyFire burn scar area with @VCFD Chief Dustin Gardner and saw firsthand the incredible work carried out by our firefighters. Thanks to the absolutely heroic efforts of crews on the ground and in the air, the fireโs destruction was limited to one home, with only two additional homes sustaining damage. We are deeply grateful for the bravery, skill, and dedication of the firefighters and first responders who worked tirelessly to protect those threatened by this fire.
The #SandyFire started on May 18th and burned 2,183 acres in Simi Valley California. Pictures are from the second day of the fire and taken on Sequoia Ave and Fir Ave.

The Sandy Fire is at 2,183 acres and is now 61% contained. Fire crews continue making steady progress, focusing on mop-up operations, extinguishing hotspots, reducing pockets of unburned vegetation near impacted communities, and strengthening containment lines as efforts toward full containment continue.
As of this afternoon, all evacuation warnings have been lifted, with the exception of areas immediately surrounding the fire perimeter, which remain under an evacuation warning.
Residents and visitors are asked to remain mindful of emergency vehicles and fire equipment still operating throughout the area as firefighting operations continue.

Fire growth was minimal throughout the day, and firefighters made progress on containment, brush removal near neighborhoods, mopping up and addressing hotspots. All Evacuation Warnings in LA County were lifted this afternoon. Evacuation Orders and Warnings remain in effect for several zones in Ventura County closer to the fire.
