I joined as a student in 2011, returned to teach 2013-2019 and am now part of a blossoming network of really diverse alumni who are working in media outlets across the UK and abroad.

@CfJKent Devastating news. Without the CfJ and it’s incredible staff I would never have been given the opportunities to work in national and international newsrooms.
It was without doubt the most formative experience of my life, involving THE best teachers in my life. Please #SaveTheCfJ
Not only that, but it's a school that is well-respected with a great reputation for producing talented journalists. Closing it down would not only be a huge loss to the University of Kent but to the whole journalism industry #savetheCfJ

@CfJKent I know it’s not everyone’s dream, but mine was tabloid editor and columnist. I got my first job as a reporter at MailOnline three months before I even graduated. I now run the news desk and write columns at a tabloid. This would never have been possible without you. #savethecfj
Truly surprising to read this is happening.
I fell in love with the course because of CFJ and am still in journalism now.
So many memories of a brilliant course that has seen me go from a trainee reporter all the way to news editor.

Awful news that @CfJKent is at risk of closure, I learnt so much in my three years there.
There is no way I would be where I am today without the skills and confidence the course gave me.
It was the foundation for everything that has followed.

The CfJ is where diverse minds are provided with world-class practical and academic training, propelling them into jobs in a highly important industry. It’s the type of place the university should be supporting, not shuttering. Closing it down would be a huge mistake. #SaveTheCfJ
The CfJ was the start of everything. The lecturers were always there when we needed them, even now almost three years after graduation that still stays true. We wouldn’t be where we are today without it. It cannot get shut down. #savetheCfJ

This is absolutely awful news. Certainly myself and probably many alumni wouldn't be the journalists we are and have the jobs we do today without @CfJKent.
